Equity Bank Uganda has commissioned the third cohort of 110 student leaders drawn from a program for selected well-performing but underprivileged learners at a ceremony in Lubowa along Entebbe Road. The 110 students were selected after excelling in their A-levels in various districts where the bank has branches. President Museveni has commended the recently appointed Minister of State for Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees, Dr. Lillian Aber, for demonstrating that being disadvantaged at birth is not a disability. Aber, who also serves as the Woman Member of Parliament for Kitgum District, confirmed that she hails from a very humble background and faced numerous hardships while growing up. According to the minister, she nearly gave up at one point. The report explores how many of the children are recruited as child soldiers against their will, radicalized into terrorism and extremism to commit atrocities and crimes against humanity.
Unprecedented, torrential rainfall plunged parts of the United Arab Emirates underwater last week, bringing life to a standstill in Dubai and elsewhere. A firehose of heavy rain gushed over a large portion of the UAE and Dubai – the country’s most populous city – recorded a year’s worth of rain in just 12 hours as areas farther east recorded nearly 2 years’ worth of rain in under 24 hours. Floodwaters rose quickly and were slow to recede as a result of the historic deluge, which was the most extreme event in the country since records began 75 years ago. Researchers claim that these floods should have been avoided.Religious leaders on the pother hand say that floods are a sign of Jesus’s second coming. Zoe ministries under prophet Elvis Mbonye say that the prophet fore Saw and warned of unprecedented torrential rains that would pound Dubai. In a recording dated 6th December Mbonye is seen saying that the time has come when the people’s glory will be exposed that they will have to turn to the Lord god. AMBIENCE. IN Uganda however, researchers and climate change activists say its time to preserve the environment put up drainage systems and plant trees.

Athletics is the number one Golden sport in Uganda when it comes to international performances. If the newly developed infrastructure is anything to go by, Kitgum Municipality could become the next City after Gulu in Acholi sub region in Northern Uganda. The Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development has seen roads upgraded, street lights installed and Pedestrian Walk ways put in place. The facelifts enumerated by Kitgum Municipality Mayor Okwera Richard Ojara are shared across Gulu and Arua Cities; other beneficiaries of USMID Additional Funding.
The Cricket Cranes, Uganda’s men senior cricket team is in Sri Lanka for their last training camp a head of their maiden appearance at the ICC T20 Men’s world cup in June this year. The team is led by the newly appointed head coach Ahbay Sharma and asst coach Jackson Ogwang.

Transport sector discrepancies -Line commissioner meets commercial drivers to address problems faced
Officials from the ministry of works and transport, Friday, met and held discussions with some commercial drivers with the aim of addressing persistent discrepancies in the transport sector. Key among issues addressed was resolution that it’s no longer compulsory for a driver with a lapsed license to retrain to acquire another license as long as one can pass test driving by the inspector of vehicles.
