In table tennis, Uganda emerged champions in the ladies' regional championship that ended last night at the indoor arena in Lugogo. The team won gold in the team events after beating off competition from Madagascar, as well as securing a silver in the singles. In the Men's category, Uganda secured a silver medal from the team events as well as finishing third overall in the Singles. President Museveni has formally retired four generals in the UPDF, urging them to be exemplary in the communities by ensuring stability. Twenty one Opposition Youth from Namutumba District in Busoga sub region have joined the National Resistance Movement. The Youth who formerly belonged to the National Unity Platform cite lack of strategy and ideology in their former Party. They were led by former NUP Coordinator Namutumba District Dabada Yusuf who accused NUP of not taking a clear stand against same sex relationships.
This week, it emerged that while the government was looking to cut the funds spent on various state agencies, the president had also appointed over 300 new assistant RDCs to work alongside the existing RDCs and their Deputies. The latest report by financial sector deepening shows that 28% of Ugandans of adult age are cognizant of climate change and what it entails and mitigation, protection and preservation of habitats and environmental ecosystems. The report also shows only 11% are aware of any funding related to climate change and blame the lack of adequate financial resources as the major hindrance to adaptation.
