Uganda's economy continues to recover, according to the Bank of Uganda, but tight economic conditions persist due to inflationary pressures and financing gaps. This situation has prompted social enterprises to rally small businesses through networking to provide solutions. An expo of about 200 SMEs, supported by the Nation Media Group and Stanbic Bank, is expected to take place at the end of May. Organized by a global business networking group, the team lead, Diana Kibuuka, anticipates that it will open access to capital, partnerships, and markets, and increase visibility and interactions with government departments and agencies. Last year, the expo attracted 13 countries. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
The Managing Director and Africa economist at Citigroup, David Cowan, says depreciation pressures on the local currency, the Uganda shilling, towards the end of 2023 and in the year 2024, could be averted by dealing with the current fiscal health and prudent budget management. He told a press briefing in Kampala today that the majority of African economies in this situation should be targeting growth levels of about 7 percent from 5 percent if they are to attain aspirations of reducing poverty. According to a recent Bank of Uganda report, "In February 2024, the weakening of the Uganda Shilling during the period was due to offshore exit due to more attractive yields in competing markets, strong domestic demand partly as a hedging mechanism against future depreciation, and seasonal factors." Reported by Racheal Nabisubi. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
An intellectual property conference has opened today in Uganda, with a call on the country's entrepreneurs and innovators, from agriculture to industry, to channel a portion of their investments into branding and the use of trademarks to ensure their works are legally distinguished within the legal and business ecosystem. Mercy Kainobwinsho, the Director-General of URSB, says that despite progress made in regulating the IP space, little has been done regarding sensitization on its economic benefits. The conference was themed “Harnessing IP in the Digital Era." #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
