The police authority has directed police territorial commanders to take action on private security companies violating standard licensing regulations. Upon registration of tremendous increase in gun violence incidents by private security guards, police have revoked seven company licenses and suspension of 20.

Uganda Breweries has adopted new technology to effectively interface with its distributors across the country. Previously, distributors placed orders via email or telephone. With the new approach, the company will get distributors’ orders via an application with communication in real-time as long as there is an internet connection. Measures that were put by the Fisheries Protection Unit to fight illegal fishing on Uganda's water bodies have started bearing fruit. Fish stock especially the Nile Perch is rising. This was revealed during a tour of fish processing factories around Kampala and Jinja by the Fish Protection Unit. The Uganda secondary school’s sports association technical team yesterday visited Masaka secondary school to inspect the grounds and facilities that will be hosting this year’s boys’ football national schools football championships that will start on the 26th April 2024. Over 20 schools from all regions of the country are expected to take part in this year’s edition.

Ndejje Secondary School in Luwero has been deemed fit to host a variety of games at this year’s Fresh Dairy School Ball Games 1 starting on Friday this week. The school facilities underwent inspection by the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association officials yesterday. Among the games to be hosted include women's football, hockey, basketball, Cricket, and rugby. After failing to adhere to proper operations guidelines, the police plans to cancel the operating licenses of seven private security organizations in the country. The force also intends to suspend the licenses of 20 other firms for failing to adhere to operational guidelines. Some of the guidelines include having an NSSF certificate of clearance, Evidence of payment of gun licensing fees or gun rental fees, and evidence of annual inspection of the company. Travelers on the Kampala-Masaka highway continue to be disrupted after a section of the road between Kyengera and Buddo caved in on Saturday. Many people have been spotted walking to their destinations while others had to use boda bodas. Travellers including the Makindye Ssabagabo member of parliament David Sserukenya partly blamed such problems on people who encroach on wetlands. Vice President Jessica Alupo today paid her respects to the late Dr. Jerome Okech Aliker, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Adviser to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, at his ancestral home in Wi Aworanga cell, Bardege Layibi Division, Gulu City. Dr. Aliker passed away on April 15, 2024, at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
