Officials in Napak district are struggling to retain recently repatriated street children in school following the absence of food to feed them. According to the officials, while a number of schools in the district accepted the learners, it has now emerged that the institutions are struggling to adequately feed them, which has seen some of them attempt to escape from the schools. Early this week, the Tax Justice Alliance Uganda (TJAU) submitted a Position Paper on the Tax Amendment Bills for the Financial Year (FY) 2024/25 to the Parliamentary Committee on Finance for consideration. In their submission, they want the government to ensure an improved tax regime as well as the efficient use of resources to meet citizens' needs and service delivery. State minister for Luwero-Rwenzori Alice Kaboyo has assured all veterans that government is concerned about their living status. She was commissioning the house for the sister to the Late James Karuhanga who was executed in broad day light in 1973 in Mbarara. Health officials in Kagadi district have been placed on high alert following an outbreak of red eye disease in the district. The outbreak has mostly been recorded in schools and prison facilities with over 500 students admitted in various health facilities to receive treatment.
