Health experts are dissatisfied with parents shunning their children from taking yellow fever vaccines. Experts say yellow fever mostly affects children, and hence should be at the forefront to administer the vaccine, something that the parents are taking for granted.
Recently, the Trade Ministry welcomed Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi as the new State Minister of Trade, succeeding Harriet Ntabazi who had been in office for 2 and half years. The Trade Ministry has extoled Gen. Mbadi’s arrival as renewed vigor, and acknowledges his strategic acumen on the crucial aspect of the trade ecosystem, especially on quality standards enforcement. This was at Farmers house in Kampala.
The Ministry of Finance has unveiled a series of new tax proposals aimed at funding the national budget for the upcoming financial year. These measures encompass a 2,500 shilling excise duty on every kilogram of flour used in brewing beer, a 10% excise duty on bottled drinking water, and an additional levy of 100 shillings on each liter of fuel. However, the implications of these proposals on the average individual or small business owner remain a pressing concern. The Uganda Scouts Association has vowed to rescue their land at Kaazi, which they say was allegedly grabbed from them at the shores of Lake Victoria. The land under contention was allocated to the Scouts in 1915 by the then King of Buganda, Sauda Chwa. Leaders in Abim district have mobilized their communities to take part in the yellow fever vaccination which is currently ongoing. The vaccination campaign in Abim district is being championed by the Resident district commissioner, James Shilaku, the District Health Officer, Solomy Tino, and other district leaders.
Addressing critical areas like more technology use, patient capital, production of demand-driven products, and standards compliance have been emphasized as those that will embolden our access to Africa Continental Free trade area. This was revealed at National capacity building workshop for SMES on export readiness under ACFTA, organized by East Africa Business Council at Imperial Royal Hotel in Kampala.

The new minister for Karamoja Affairs, Peter Lokeris has presided over the launch of a 5 million Euro project to skill, over 3,500 vulnerable youth from the sub-region.
