The former Chief of Defence Forces Gen Wilson Mbadi has assumed office as the state Minister for Trade Industry and Cooperatives succeeding Harriet Ntabaazi . During the handover Ceremony held at the Farmers house in Kampala, Mbadi wasted no time in outlining his vision and mission to transform Uganda’s trade ministry into a powerhouse of economic growth targeting youth employment and quality enhancement throught the trade value chain.
In a bid to enhance access to services, the Uganda Registration Service Bureau has launched an online business registration system. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Amina Zawedde, Commended URSB for the milestone achieved as well as emphasized the public to embrace such technological advancements.
Uganda revenue authority has asked parliament to re-instate the budget cut of 55.73 billion shillings on wage which is bigger than the gap of their current staff on pay roll. While presenting their financial policy statement of the 2024/25 were URA’s budget estimate is at 564 billion shillings, the commissioner general URA also asked parliament to approve their structure of 169 billion shillings to help improve efficiency and tax collection.
The State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) has conducted a stakeholders consultation meeting on the minimum capital requirements for investment licensing in Uganda. During the meeting held at the State House Investors Protection Unit Offices in Kampala today, the unit head, Col. Edith Nakalema noted that there was a gap in having a clear investment policy after receiving a lot of concern from the business community and government agencies. Col. Nakalema said as stakeholders, they need to streamline the country's investment environment by setting up favourable policies. She decried the inefficiency of the Small Business Recovery fund and the Agricultural Credit Facility programs which are meant to revive and support businesses of Ugandans.

Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has backed the idea of the Minister of Youths and Children Affairs, Baram Barugahara, requesting President Museveni to free supporters of the Opposition National Unity Platform who have spent several years in detention over various charges. Barugahara made the call to Museveni at the swearing-in ceremony of new ministers recently. The Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre has been compelled to remove the sculpture of a snake installed at Katabi along the Kampala - Entebbe Highway. The locals and schools in the area were concerned that the sculpture was frightening children who mistook it for a real snake. The Constitutional Court ruling, which upheld the Anti-Homosexuality law on Wednesday, brought with it an anticipated withdrawal of more assistance to the country by development partners. When NTV's JACKSON ONYANGO spoke to two lawyers, Nicholas Opiyo and George Musisi, they argued that the partners' decision is justifiable. They say that taxpayers in these development partner states, whose funds are dedicated for aid, dictate the political direction their governments take. Yesterday, we brought you the story of the state of community schools in Terego district in the West Nile sub-region. These schools have dilapidated or no infrastructure, and learners sit on bricks or on the dusty ground. An estimated 1,080,000 deaf persons and 400,000 persons with visual impairment will have access to a braille version of the citizen's guide to the country's copy of the FY 2023/24 budget, produced by the Ministry of Finance, UNICEF, and partners. Uganda Revenue Authority's top officials have told Members of Parliament on the Finance Committee that they could find it hard to pay their employees because their budget for the next financial year has been cut by 55 billion shillings. Finance Minister Matia Kasaija says the government will continue to tighten its fiscal conditions to avoid accumulating debt, despite urgent expenditure needs for infrastructure projects such as roads, stadiums in Lango and Hoima districts, security, health, among others in the budget. A study has found that a lot of recycled cooking oil used by street food sellers does not meet quality standards and poses a potential health hazard for those who consume it. The study, carried out by researchers of Makerere University’s Department of Food Technology and Nutrition, recommends that although discouraging street food sellers from recycling cooking oil has heavy financial implications, public education and awareness campaigns are necessary to protect consumer health. A seventeen-year-old girl in Busukuma division in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district, is carrying the burden of providing for her six siblings after their parents were arrested three months ago. They were detained on allegations of aggravated robbery, an accusation they have since denied.
