Globally, we produce more than we can eat, yet hunger persists. Up to 828 million people were food insecure in 2022, and the World Food Programme (WFP) estimates over 345 million people in 79 countries face high levels of hunger this year. When we consider the impacts of climate change, like extreme heat, on food security, many focus on agricultural production. However, food security is more than just production. A complete definition dates back to the 1996 World Summit on Food Security, stating it's achieved "when all people, at all times, have physical, social, and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life." This includes four key pillars: availability, accessibility, utilization, and stability. Extreme events, like extreme heat, can upset these pillars, particularly stability, affecting the other three. Today, we discuss this issue and a silent trend of reused oil and transformer oil in Uganda's food system, especially in street food, with David Kabanda from the Center for Food and Adequate Living Rights (CEFROHT) and Agnes Kirabo, a food security advocate from the Food Rights Alliance. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
In the modern day, beauty pageants are often viewed with a critical eye due to the perceived promotion of superficial beauty standards. However, beneath the dazzling tiaras and sparkling gowns, beauty pageants play a significant role in society. They foster personal development, promote diversity, and even serve as a platform for pertinent social issues. Beauty pageants are not merely about physical appearances; they are a comprehensive platform where participants develop a wide range of skills, from communication skills and public speaking to confidence and poise. These are invaluable life skills that extend beyond the stage. Contestants learn to handle pressure, competition, and criticism, all of which contribute to personal growth and resilience. In this Easter holiday, we lighten up to bring you Faith Rusoke - Miss Uganda UK 2023/24. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

NAMIREMBE EASTER SERVICE: CHRISTIANS URGED TO EMBRACE THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST THROUGH LIVES
Christians have been urged to emulate Jesus Christ’s message of love and compassion through sacrifice. The bishop of Namirembe diocese the Rt. Rev. Moses Banja says overzealous love for money can be a source of evil and advised Christians to avoid too much indulgence in material wealth. This was contained in his Sermon to hundreds of Christians during Easter Sunday service at Namirembe Cathedral in Kampala.
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu has cautioned Christians against being greedy with the earthly things, as it was with Judah Iscariot who betrayed Jesus Christ that saw his death. Kaziimba Mugalu conveyed this in his Easter sermon message to Christians at All Saints Cathedral in Nakasero as Christians celebrated the ressurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese Right reverend Paul Ssemwogerere has decried corruption, gun violence and land grabbing as some of the vices eating up Uganda today. This was contained in his Easter Sunday message as hundreds turned up for the day's celebration calling on congregants to maintain clear headed spiritual lifestyles. The mass was graced by Uganda's State Minister for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo who decried increased accidents and environmental destruction.
President Museveni has expressed appreciation for the religious leaders for their staunch stance against the vice of corruption. He conveyed this sentiment in his Easter message sent out from his country home in Rwakitura. Museveni emphasized the importance of tackling corruption, urging the leaders to persist in their efforts, adding that the corrupt are parasites that impede and undermine the NRM’s transformation endeavors. The President highlighted the existing structures within local governments, such as elected Local Councils, as potential tools for holding officials accountable. However, he expressed concern that these structures were not being utilized effectively. He called for increased vigilance and a more active role in ensuring transparency within communities. The president also cited land grabbing as a specific area where better coordination between local administrative, political, security, and religious entities could address corruption concerns. Furthermore, the President urged religious leaders to promote the gospel of wealth creation, noting that the NRM's formula for wealth creation is well elaborated and that some religious leaders are actively involved in wealth creation.
