The Office of the Prime Minister and Compassion International has launched a 5-year collaborative plan to respond to and manage various disaster situations, considering the emerging challenges associated with climate change. The plan will include preventing, responding to, and managing disasters common in Uganda, such as landslides, flooding, famine, and fires, among others. Gulu City authorities and environmental activists have stormed a construction site where a petrol station was being built. The leaders say the petrol station is being constructed in the Pece wetland. Days after she was dropped from the cabinet, Manafwa residents still turned up in droves to meet outgoing Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Dr. Mary Gorreti Kituttu, as the area marked Women's Day. The recent success at the 13th African Games has reenergized government's desire to embark on a thorough talent identification and development process. This has been highlighted by national council of sports general secretary Dr Patrick Ogwel. The 13th African Games that have climaxed in Ghana have confirmed that sports made in Uganda is alive. For starters, Uganda finished with a decent medal haul of 20 which placed us 13th overall which is the best ever performance in the 59 history of the Games. But because success at such a stage comes with demand from the public for better results, national council of sports has set out a deliberate plan to advise parents to interest their children into sports in order to grow numbers starting early.

The 3rd edition of the Ruwenzori Marathon will be internationally certified by the World Athletics Federation, a first for Uganda. This comes after Gavin Wright, a route measurer from the World Athletics, visited and certified the route in Kasese over the weekend ahead of this year's Marathon in August.
