The Police Criminal Investigations Department has increased the bounty for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of Tabula Luggya, a key suspect in the killing of Ndiga clan head Daniel Bbosa last month. Four pupils of Victory Nursery and Primary School in Busia town have died in a fire that gutted their dormitory last night. The fire reportedly started shortly after midnight, destroying the entire dormitory which housed pupils from primary three up to primary seven. The school headteacher, Stephen Ojambo Chwidi, told NTV that two other pupils are hospitalized with severe body burns. The Uganda Development Corporation says that it is refining its financing mechanism to support a wider pipeline of critical projects through which it intends to drive its Public-Private Partnerships via capital injection. Eng. Godfrey Ruhurira, UDC’s Board Chairman, says that with the joint venture structures of the state-owned institutions' stake in the multi-billion-shilling Speke Resort Convention Centre, the focus will be on new projects. Accessing education in many parts of the rural areas in the country remains a big challenge for learners. In the Sironko district, learners have to contend with long walks through the hills, only to be confronted with nearly absent infrastructure when they arrive at the schools.
