The Indian High Commissioner to Uganda Upender Singh Rawat expressed the need to strengthen ties in tourism and film Industry between Uganda and Indian . Upender Singh was speaking durring the launch of the India movie SANDEH _THE DOUBT at Acacia mall in Kampala . He further Expressed the need to come up with the formation of positive collaboration between two Countries fully utilize the vast filming industry in conjunction with the tourism promotion.
The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has advised women to embrace development ideas and government programs like Parish development model to grow enterprises and fight poverty.
Government has appreciated the need to direct more investments toward feed and fodder to ensure sustainable livestock production. Minister of State for Animal industry, Col. Students of the Jimmy Ssekasi Business Institute excelled at an international cooking competition in India. Three students from the institute emerged as first runner-up in a competition that ran for four days. Principal Judge Flavian Zeija has cautioned students engaging in strikes, stating that their actions are only a stain on their future, while placing undue strain on their parents. The warning came as the principal judge presided over celebrations to welcome back the alumni at St. Mary's College Rushoroza in Kabale district, yesterday. The Judge who is a former head prefect at the school, said the school had shaped his outlook on life, especially due to the discipline inculcated in him there. Kyambogo University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Elli Katunguka has called for support to enable more postgraduate studies and research through Ph.D. training. According to Prof Katunguka, the number of PhD researchers remains very low, limiting research output, especially in Agriculture. Government of Uganda with support from the French Government will provide clean and safe water to over 450,000 locals in informal settlements of greater Kampala with effect from this year. This was revealed by the French Ambassador to Uganda, H.E Xavier Sticker during a tour of the Shs.1.2 trillion water projects in Katosi.
Registration and validation of members with the NRM is ongoing in Kasese District. The exercise, spearheaded by the village registrars, has attracted a positive response from the members of the public, who are turning up in big numbers to be a part of the NRM party. Minister for National Guidance, Godfrey Kabbyanga, has joined efforts to mobilize locals to participate in the exercise. He did this alongside monitoring some of the government programs in the district, including the Kitolu-Kayanja 8.5 km road, whose phase 1 has been completed.
Over 200 FDC supporters have defected to NRM camp as the ruling party candidate in the Dokolo by election, Jane Adong Alau, campaigned in the 3 sub counties of Okwongodul, Kwera and Amwoma. The defectors were received by the NRM Director for mobilization, Rose Mary Sseninde, who welcomed the defectors, asking them to rally behind the NRM candidate.

Traders operating in City Arcades have decried the ever-rising rent and extra charges in the arcades, following a move by the Uganda Revenue Authority to get tougher on collecting, including VAT and Rental Tax. While Kampala city has over 200 arcades, a number of these have been abandoned by traders due to the unbearable rent and extra fees.
