Traders operating in City Arcades have decried the ever-rising rent and extra charges in the arcades, following a move by the Uganda Revenue Authority to get tougher on collecting, including VAT and Rental Tax. Uganda's Ambassador to Sudan, Chad, and Morocco, Dr. Rashida Yahaya Ssemuddu, has called on Muslims to embrace fasting as one of important pillars of Islam that should be practiced. The Ambassador made the remarks while attending Juma Prayers at Masjid Swidiq mosque Kalitunsi in Kisenyi.
During the first Juma prayers of the Holy month of Ramathan, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Hafiz Walusimbi, urged Muslims to be holy and also help those who do not have. Supreme Mufti of Kibuli Grand Mosque, Sheikh Shaban Galabuzi, who was also in attendance, commended centenary bank for the donation of 200 bags of cement to help build the Supreme Mufti's house.
Buganda Road Chief magistrate’s court has dismissed a bail application filed by Ibrahim Musana, alias pressure 24 /7, who's faced with offenses of hate speech towards President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, among others. In doing so, Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi asserted that the applicant has no fixed place of aboard, and his sureties were not substantial.
