Three justices of the Court of Appeal led by the Deputy chief justice Richard Buteera have upheld a High court's decision that registering organizations that promote LGTBQ activities in Uganda is illegal. The appeal was filed by three gay activits ; Frank Mugisha, Dennis Wamala and Joanita Mary Ssenfuka against the Uganda Registration Services Bureau which by a letter dated 16th/ Feb 2016 rejected to preserve and register the name " Sexual Minorities Uganda" SMUG" for being against public policies and interests in the country. However on 14th/ June 2018, Highcourt judge Patrica Basaza dismissed the case and held that the law empowers URSB to reject preservation or registration of a name / company if the objectives of the proposed company are not in public interest .According to the justices, a careful perusal of objectives of SMUG that include among others promotion of gay rights is still an offense and hence URSB was justified in its decision. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
