The European Investment Bank (EIB Global) and Centenary Rural Development Bank Ltd (CERUDEB) have announced an agreement to make €100 million available to private-sector enterprises, with a focus on female borrowers and microenterprises in rural areas. This investment represents EIB Global’s largest ever microfinance loan to any country in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) regions.

Members on the parliamentary forum for fisheries have urged the minister for fisheries to come up with a comprehensive fisheries regulation to address the issues facing the fisheries industry as a whole. While addressing the press at Parliament they expressed dissatisfaction with the way the minister is introducing the regulations which they say is piece mill and only worsens the situation.
The chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament Muwanga Kivumbi has invoked the powers of high court and summoned the permanent secretary ministry of lands and urban development to appear on 26th of March to give accountability of the queries in the auditor general report. The committee chased out officials of the ministry who had appeared headed by the under secretary Richard Juuko and directed CID to accompany them retrieve a management letter from the auditor general, internal audit and Annexed to their financial statement.

Over 200 golfers flocked to Entebbe Golf Club to grace the inaugural of I and M Bank Katogo golf tournament. Peace Kabasweka returned 78 strokes on countback to claim the women's accolade alongside Perez Muhwezi who returned 71 to claim the top position from the men’s side. As the country marks the week where women are celebrated, comparison on how they are fairing in the formal sector goes on. Currently the trends have changed where many women are employed in situations challenging the men. With more graduands joining the job market, the ratio of ladies employed in corporate companies is greatly improving compared to the past years. This is attributed to the acquisition of knowledge and skills as well as empowering many into the formal sector. Jubilee insurance company celebrated the international women's day in style. Miriam Matembe a woman leader and activist was the guest speaker, advising female employees to define their purpose in life and live with it to draw public respect. In terms of marriage, Matembe urged the female workers to identify the good characteristics of their husbands and stick to them if they were to have a long-lasting relationship. Byte Study has it that women play an important role in life when it comes to boosting social-economic transformation of society and equally families.

The Uganda Athletics Federation convened its annual general assembly today at the Uganda Olympic Committee offices, with the objective of devising a plan to implement this season's calendar moving forward.
Ugandans under the Indian association of Uganda participated in a cooking competition dubbed master chef and state food festival. With the aim of promoting Indian cuisines and culture, Variety of spices and foods were displayed. The second edition had Chef Aruna Vijay from India assess the winners before being awarded prizes funded by Plascon paints.
