District chairpersons in the Lango sub-region, including Lira, Alebtong, Dokolo, and Kore, have asked the government to increase funding for water and sanitation to improve water access in the area. Led by the Lira LC 5 chairperson, Okello Orik, they also asked the government to reassess the water map in the areas, as several towns have emerged and the population has expanded. The Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng has received ICT Equipment worth 62,000 Euros for disease surveillance donated by EU & BMZ to be coordinated by Intergovernmental Authority on Development - IGAD. Aceng noted that the ICT equipment donated will elevate data management practices, making disease surveillance more efficient and streamlined. Aceng made the remarks during handover ceremony of ICT equipment that will be distributed to various border points.

A solar power plant is being constructed along Kabulasoke-Nkonge in Mubende District. The plant will supply solar-generated electricity to the national grid, pushing the country’s grid-connected solar portfolio to 80.6 megawatts. Residents are pleased as it will enable them to connect power to their homes. Members of the Mbale District Roads Committee have asked the Works Ministry to release the balance of Shs 500 million, part of the Shs 1 billion earmarked by the government to rehabilitate feeder roads in the district. The National Forestry Authority and other partners have restored 500 hectares of Kagombe Central Forest Reserve in Kagadi District. According to the National Forestry Authority Range Manager, Budongo Systems Range in Bunyoro Sub Region, Boaz Basigirenda, Kagombe Central Forest reserve covers 17,751 hectares, 80% of which had been depleted by encroachers.
