The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has postponed the Uganda Certificate of Education Transition Examination from the initially scheduled timeframe in June and July to October and November this year. This is the same time the 2024 UCE examination will be held. The extension is meant to enable learners to prepare. The UCE examination 2023 marked the end of the old curriculum, and the current senior four candidates will be examined using the competence-based new lower secondary curriculum. This means that those who failed last year's examination and wish to repeat will have to sit the transition examination. UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo has said the registration process will also run alongside the normal registration for this year. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

Tourism is a rapidly growing sector, bolstered by Uganda's status as a premier tourist destination and one of only three countries boasting approximately 50% of the world’s known population of endangered mountain gorillas. This distinction has placed Uganda among the top 16 holiday destinations globally, according to Lonely Planet 2012 and CNN 2016. Moreover, tourist numbers have steadily increased, reaching an estimated 1.5 million annually and contributing 7.7% to the GDP. Over recent years, tourism has emerged as a vital sector in Uganda, significantly contributing to foreign exchange earnings, job creation, and investment. There has been a notable surge in investment in tourism infrastructure, particularly in accommodation and related facilities, aimed at enhancing visitor experiences in the country. As per statistics from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, the sector generated US$805 million (approximately Shs2 trillion) as of August, with further potential yet to be tapped. Currently, increased investment in this sector remains a priority to align with government plans aimed at maximizing its contribution to the economy. To delve deeper into the realm of tourism and investment, we are joined by Martin Mugarra Bahinduka, the State Minister of Tourism, and Herbert Byaruhanga, President of the Uganda Tourism Association. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

The Minister of Finance Matia Kasaija has said the cost of doing business in the country could reduce after the Financial Action Task Force, removed Uganda from the Grey list after four years. Financial Action Task Force, a global body mandated to lead action to counter threats of abuse of the financial system by criminals and terrorists, placed Uganda on its grey list in 2020 due to issues regarding shortfalls in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing measures. Kasaija says the development will also build investor confidence and reinforce Uganda's global reputation. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
