Lango Cultural and political leaders in Lango have asked the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to protect and preserve Barlonyo Massacre site in Lira District.  On February 21, 2004 LRA rebels carried out a massacre in an Internally Displaced People’s Camp (IDPC) in Barlonyo village, Ogur Sub County in Lira District where over 300 civilians were killed.

The breakaway faction of the Forum for Democratic Change, now commonly referred to as FDC Katonga Road, revealed that it was considering forming a new political party. The residents of Lwabenge in Kalungu district have commended the Poverty Alleviation Department project under State house for changing their livelihoods. This was during the visit and monitoring of the project by officials from state house in PAD to assess its performance. The assistant private secretary to the President, also PAD coordinator in central region Jackie Kusiima, cherished farmers in Kalungu for participating in government programs.

Uganda coffee development authority has held an engagement meeting with stakeholders and the European Union regulation on deforestation-free products on compliance and ensuring that the Ugandan coffee market in EU is expanded. The extension manager UCDA Robert Nangatsa says they are collectively engaging all stake holders with government commitment to support the process. The meeting aimed at EU regulation for deforestation free products by December 2024.

The equal opportunities commission has advised the National Planning Authority to bring the national development plans closer to the people through sensitization about these plans. The chairperson EOC Hajjat Safia Nalule Jjuuko says, many people at village level, in government and the private sector have no idea about the National development plans.

Japan has donated two thousand metric tonnes of rice worth 8.5 billion shillings to enable the World Food Programme to provide hot meals to 50,000 refugees arriving in Uganda. There are at least 1.5 million refugees in Uganda, the highest in any African country. Many of them are fleeing conflict in South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Somalia, and more recently Sudan reaching the border by foot or by bus.
