The annual National Budget Month platform is now a permanent fixture on the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) calendar, intended to inspire public ownership of the national budget. With the support of Budget Transparency Initiative (BTI) partners, through public dialogues, media engagements, and corporate social responsibility, Ugandans have been encouraged to participate in government programs, appreciate voluntary tax compliance, and fulfill their tax obligations. However, the planning process for the financial year 2024/25 is eyeing an increment from the current financial year. The question is, will this accelerate Uganda's economic growth and development? To delve into this discussion, we are joined on the program by Julius Kapwepwe, Executive Director of Uganda Debt Network, and David Walakira, Executive Director of the Centre for Budget and Tax Policy #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

Ministry of Education officials are meeting with the Education Parliamentary Committee to discuss key issues in the education sector. According to the ministry, the O-level curriculum is still challenging to implement, with only 35% of targeted teachers trained on the new curriculum. Many schools, the ministry notes, have not changed their mindset and still emphasize examinations, with some continuing to conduct beginning-of-term, mid-term, and end-of-term exams, contrary to the curriculum's design. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

After the Minister of State for Fisheries, Helen Adoa, issued stringent measures on the fishing of silverfish, commonly known as mukene, in all water bodies, fishermen at the Kiyindi landing site in the Buikwe district have proposed possible ways to handle the situation for equitable lake use. They suggest implementing a two to three-month fishing holiday for all fishermen, regardless of the species, to help populate the lake with fish, resulting in improved catches and revenue. They discussed these proposals during a meeting with their area MP, Dr. Michael Lulume, at the Kiyindi Landing site. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
