Disputes between Kireka taxi operators over working space have caused tension in the area. Members of Kireka Drivers and Conductors Agaliawamu Association are accusing their counterparts of Kireka Twezimbe Taxi Drivers and Conductors Association of discrimination, harassment and denial to operate within the same designated area.

Health authorities in Mbale City have called for the immediate closure of an abattoir in Masada Ward over concerns that it is putting people’s lives at risk. Following their inspection of this abattoir, it was found that the site contained 5 years’ worth of waste, absence of toilets as well as running water to keep the place clean. To make matters worse, the dirty water from the abattoir is now flowing directly into the locals’ homes which has further put them at the risk of hygiene-related diseases. Garda World a Canadian Security Company providing security at the Tilenga Oil Project in Buliisa has awarded seven fully funded O-level scholarships to the best PLE performers from the oil-rich Districts of Hoima and Buliisa. The scholarships will cost the company 85 million shillings. The function was graced by officials from the two Districts. The Scholarships will cost the Company eighty-five million shillings and the Awardees will study for four years at St. Andrea Kaahwa’s College Hoima. The police in Kwania have confirmed the death of two people after a lorry they were traveling in early in the morning crashed and along Apac-Lira Highway. Two other people were also injured in the road crash. According to witnesses, the vehicle was traveling in the middle of the night, when the lights suddenly went off at a junction leaving the driver stranded, before it crashed. Some local schools in Lira City have continued to improve on their performance, producing more candidates in first grade. Mentor Senior secondary school this year beat the odds in Lira city, producing 99 students in first grade, two students getting eight for eight.
The National Union of Disabled Persons- Uganda is dismayed over the poor performance of candidates with special needs, especially during the recently concluded Uganda Certificate of Education- UCE examinations. In the recently released UCE results, out of the 809 learners that sat for the 2023 Exams, only 76 passed in first grade.
Still in that line of celebrations, some students, Friday, visited UBC premises on Nile Avenue in Kampala, to share their excitement.
Successful schools and students across the country continue to celebrate after the release of the Uganda Certificate of Education results yesterday by the Uganda National Examinations Board. UBC reporters visited a number of different schools in and outside Kampala, where they interacted with the jubilant students and school administrators.

Revenue authorities in South Sudan will with immediate effect start enforcing mandatory electronic cargo tracking notes for all imports and exports from South Sudan. This is the first step in implementing a recent MOU signed between South Sudan and Invesco Uganda Limited, to eliminate transit diversion risks, of goods through Uganda to South Sudan, especially at the Nimule-Elegu Border.
