The National Drug Authority NDA has closed 180 illegal Drug outlets and also impounded 416 boxes of drugs worth over 100 million shillings in Western Region. The move came about in an operation carried out in the districts of Hoima, Hoima City, Kikuube, Kyankwanzi, Masindi and Kyenjojo. It has been brought to the attention of government that the increasing number of students rushing for vocational studies is as a result of the high rate of dropouts from the mainstream education centres, they being primary and secondary. However, this is not by choice or will.  This has been pointed out during the sixth graduation ceremony of Rutenga Vocational Training Institute in Kanungu district, an event presided over by the ICT and National guidance Minister, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi.

The  Ministry of Local Government under the Local Economic Growth Support Project funded by the Government of Uganda and other partners have carried out a   Dissemination workshop to evaluate the findings from the Second Millennium Village Project that was conducted in isingiro district . The  projects aims at lifting communities out of poverty and subsequently improving  livelihoods.

Over 100 police families with an estimated population of 600 people are faced with eviction from Butakabukirwa village on Mulago Hill in Kawempe division. The serving police personnel are required to vacate the area within 2 days. The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) plans to install traffic lights at the Queens Way junction along the new Kampala Flyover, to prevent road crashes. However, at the moment UNRA and Traffic Police have agreed to deploy the police to control the traffic flow until the installation of the traffic lights. A team of eight has today been flagged off to Cairo, Egypt at the National Council of Sports offices in Lugogo to take part in the All Africa Senior Championships starting Monday next week.Through the event, players will also garner more qualification points for the Olympic Games in Paris this year. Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo has warned lawyers that no amount of intimidation will force him to act favorably towards anyone regarding key sector decisions, related to dispensing justice. Instead, he urged lawyers to act with decorum and respect for one another. The Uganda National Examinations Board has directed District Education officers to identify two suitable centers for those who do not pass their O-levels, under the old lower secondary school curriculum. The identified centers will be the only ones whose portals will be able to register candidates. The exams are scheduled for between June and July 2024.
