The fishing Community in Uganda has been encouraged to renew their fishing licenses to avoid inconveniences come April, 2024. This reassurance comes in the wake of reports of mishandling by the Fisheries Protection Unit, something State Minister for Fisheries, Hellen Adoa, blames on what she terms as non – trained soldiers. Adoa was speaking during a Community Barraza at Kadungulu Sub County in Serere District, where she underscored the need for dialogue to address fisheries sector challenges.

Minister of State for Lands, Dr. Sam Mayanja, has suspended the principal assistant secretary of Masaka District Zonal Lands Office over allegations of corruption and double titling of land. Minister Mayanja issued a warning, threatening to shut down the land office in Masaka town. He ordered the arrest of the LC3 chairman implicated in the scandal.
Brig. Gen. David Gonyi, UPDF Airforce Chief of Staff, has urged the people of Busoga to be patriotic and use their talents to earn a living for themselves. He was representing the UPDF Chief of Defense Forces, Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi at a ceremony to promote the talents of the people of Busoga in Jinja city.

Two people have died in a road accident in Iganga district and twenty-three sustained serious injuries when a trailer rammed into a taxi Friday evening. The accident occurred at Buseyi village in Iganga town when a trailer carrying cement toward Jinja rammed into a taxi coming from the opposite direction. In Kikuube several beneficiaries of Parish Development Model funds have appealed to the government after the prices of maize grain, in which they had invested, collapsed. The beneficiaries, who each received 1 million shillings each, say the price of maize grain has dropped to 450 per kg, which makes it uneconomical.
