There will be no more approvals for new fuel stations seeking to operate in the immediate vicinity of new cities, according to the Uganda National Bureau of Standards. UNBS asserts that, after the expiry of the five-year license for affected operators, there will be no renewal. The Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives Committee of Parliament have criticized the Ministry of Trade for unlawfully granting operational and trading licenses to certain sugar factories. The committee points out that, according to the Sugar Act of 2020, the authority to issue licenses exclusively belongs to the Uganda Sugar Board. The issue was highlighted when the committee presented a report in anticipation of examining the Sugar Amendment Bill of 2023. The High Court in Kampala has ruled that Mulago Hospital is liable for the loss of a baby delivered within its premises. The Ministry of Education and Sports has revealed plans to conduct special exams for senior four candidates who sat their final exams under the old curriculum and wish to repeat. The Permanent Secretary, Ketty Lamaro, represented by the Director of Basic Education, Ismael Mulindwa, at UMA showground Lugogo, today during the national selection and placement exercise, said that UNEB will make provisions for these candidates, as they are the last batch under the old curriculum. Lt Col Allan Kitanda, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisation, emphasized the pivotal role of leadership in steering the growth of SACCOs. Speaking at a training session in Iganga District during the 43rd Tarehe Sita Anniversary celebrations, Lt Col Kitanda highlighted the need for strategic thinking among leaders, as SACCOs often rely on their guidance. Stressing the importance of good governance, he noted that visible progress in internal systems attracts more members. The training, aimed at expanding the SACCO movement in Uganda, included interactions with SACCOs from various districts. Ms. Gabula Milly, Chairperson of the Women Entrepreneurs SACCO, lauded the training's coverage of key topics and encouraged further sessions to help SACCOs progress.

Travelers and businesspeople in Serere District are celebrating the grading of a 13-kilometer Iningo-Aminit-Pacoto road. The road has been rehabilitated using funds from the Roads Rehabilitation Fund. The trade route connects various areas to Ilungi landing site, a major point for the supply of mudfish and catfish in Lake Kyoga. It also connects Serere District to Buyende District. 253 million shillings were spent on the project. Dr Jane Ruth Aceng the Minister of Health has called upon leaders, communities and stakeholders to prioritize and act to address the inequalities that drive Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in the country. Aceng made the remarks during the commemoration of the World Neglected Tropical Disease day held in Pakwach District. The purpose of World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day is to raise the profile of neglected tropical diseases, the suffering caused and to garner support towards the control, elimination and eradication.
Several Community Civil-Military Cooperation activities are carried out in the districts of Busoga sub-region by the Uganda People’s Defense Force, reflecting their commitment to giving back to the community. These activities encompass building and renovating schools, health centers, general cleaning, and organizing health camps, among other initiatives.
