Members of the Hoima City security committee have issued a one-week ultimatum to people who are encroaching on wetlands to vacate them before they are forcefully evicted. Badru Mugabi, the Hoima Resident City commissioner, says most of the wetlands around the city have been highly degraded by cultivators, washing bay operators, and other developers who have to be evicted. Streets and traffic lights that were installed in Mbale City are no longer functional, exposing residents to criminals and accidents, especially at road junctions. Streetlights that are down are on Pallisa Road, Nabowa Road, Nabuyonga Rise, and Mugisu Hill Road. The roads and lights were fixed under the Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development Programme.
