The Hospitality industry in Uganda is prepared to host and shelter the delegates of the Non – Aligned Movement and G77 +China Summits. The General Manager Kampala Sheraton Hotel Jean-Phillipe Bittencourt says the hotel is fully booked with 230 rooms including 30 suites. Similar optimism is shared by Skyz Hotel in Naguru whose Head Waiter Patrick Bitature says the guests should expect a worthwhile hospitable experience in Uganda.

All is set for Uganda to host the 19th Non-Aligned Movement Summit that is scheduled to start tomorrow in the capital Kampala. The government says critical sectors, including transport and accommodation, have been fully readied to ensure that the visitors have a good time during their stay in the country, and the summit becomes successful. The government, through the Ministry of Education and Sports, has disbursed 126 million Shillings to Moyo district local government under the School Facility grant to cater for Infrastructural developments in schools there. According to the Minister of State for Primary Education Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, the district is expected to prioritize the needs of government-aided Primary Schools before the 2024 academic year begins. One person crashed to death in Namisindwa district, following heavy rains that have resulted in deep cracks developing in the grounds and displacement of heavy rocks. The deceased, a 10-year-old Asafah Wazemba, was hit by a rolling rock near her parents’ home in Buwanzala village in Bumbo sub-county. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja is inviting the people of Mubende and Kakumiro to partner with the government to restore a broken river crossing, at River Nyamuhugura, which connects the districts of Mubende and Kakumiro. She made the call while addressing residents from the two districts at the construction site. Nabbanja said the local support would enable a faster connection for the two areas. Uganda Development Corporation UDC has opened itself to supporting the hosting of multilateral summits that are being held in this country, to demonstrate its potential as a formidable investment vehicle for the government. The new Speke Resort Convention Centre, built for 47 Million dollars is a joint investment by the Ruparelia Group and the state-owned Uganda Development Corporation UDC. This service area, as well as other major investments in industry, agro processing, and mineral value addition, forms the foundation for several expected interventions that will amount to trillions over an extended period; UDC Executive Director Dr Patrick Birungi says. Airtel Uganda in collaboration with TECNO Mobile Uganda and StarTimes, launched the SPARK 20 Pro+, marking the first 5G network in the country. The SPARK 20 Pro+ was unveiled in Kampala, at a ceremony officiated by Hon. Chris Baryomunsi, Minister for ICT and National Guidance.

Local leaders in Karamoja sub region are unhappy with the delay in distribution of iron sheets for the reformed Karacunas, despite all the nine districts of Karamoja sub region having received a total of 97,552 iron sheets meant to benefit 3,752 Karacunas.
