Budget experts are warning that with the new debt levels now recorded at 96tn, Uganda’s revenue to debt ratio, soon touching 40% levels, could in light of debt refinancing risk go higher but even push the country to the possibility of default and high interest rates. The Ministry of Health has said that the Nodding syndrome is no longer a public health problem. The National Coordinator for Nodding Syndrome Control program Dr. Alfred Mubangizi told NTV that no new cases have been registered since 2016. Efforts to enhance the aesthetic appeal of Kampala are well underway in preparation for the upcoming NAM and G77+ China summits. The objective is to elevate the city's appearance, particularly in the central area, ahead of the prestigious NAM summit. The two major summits are scheduled consecutively at the Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo in Kampala. Notable improvements can be observed along Speke Road, where flowers have been strategically placed, contributing to the beautification of the city center. Simultaneously, construction is progressing on the Mukwano Stretch Road, focusing on smartening the city through building repainting, walkway enhancements, and addressing maintenance issues such as manholes.
Parliament will start scrutinizing the Auditor General’s report for the last financial year 2022/2023 which among others reveals that 6.72 billion is lost to payment of ghost employees. Following the last 2023 validation exercise of government employees, 1,818 ghost workers put a dent on the consolidated fund.
