Meanwhile in Masaka, the police is looking into two separate people have been murdered in separate killings in Masaka. According to the Nyendo Police Commander Francis Kidega, the first victim, identified as Birungi Nabadda aged 35 a resident of Misaali village in Nyendo-Mukungwe-division in Masaka city, was first raped and later killed with a sharp object and her body was dumped near a catholic church in Misaali. Later One David Ggayi, aged 37 year old boda boda cyclist, was also killed along Lwasa road in Kyabakuza village in Kimaanya-Kyabakuza division in Masaka city. Later in the night, former Kawempe South MP Mubaraka Munyagwa escaped death after goons broke into his house in Kimbejja cell, Buddo ward in Kyengera town council. However, his bodyguard Benjamin Mpaka was injured during the attack by these assailants. According to police, one of the suspects, who tried fleeing the crime scene in a pick up, number UAK 182 A was apprehended and is helping with investigations. The immigration department spokesperson Simon Mudeyi has confirmed that Uganda has started allowing Ugandan and Congolese nationals to cross the common border of the two countries without the need for visa fees or formal diplomatic checks. Local Government Minister Raphael Magyezi has revealed that the term of local council administrative unit councils ( LC-I and LC II) has been extended by an extra 180 days, starting on January 6th, 2024. The term of office, was due to expire on January 5th, 2024. According to Minister Magyezi, the decision has been dictated by inadequate funding and other logistics to carry out the elections. Police in Old Kampala Police is carrying out a comprehensive investigation into a tragic shooting in which Pastor Aloysius Bugingo of the House of Prayer Ministry was shot at. According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police, the shooters only injured the pastor, but ended up killing his bodyguard, Richard Muhumuza. The police say the attackers struck at around 9pm last evening, opening fire on Pastor Bugingo's vehicle, registered as PRAIZ GOD, along Bawalakata Junction along National Housing Road in Namungona, in Lubaga Division. The assailants reportedly fled from the scene on a motorcycle. Despite sustaining injuries during the attack, Pastor Aloysious Bugingo managed to transport the vehicle to Mulago Hospital, where his bodyguard died as he was receiving assistance. The army has confirmed a military helicopter crash in Karugutu, Ntoroko District.
