The growth rate of 17.7%, increasing from 576 to 678 ventures in 2021, mirrors the expansion observed from 2019 to 2017, marking a 17.3% surge in active ventures. Overall, the number of fintech startups in Africa has soared by 125.2% from 2017 to 2023. This growth is widespread across the continent, with all major markets, except South Africa, witnessing an upswing in active ventures. Particularly noteworthy are the remarkable expansions in Egypt and Nigeria, where the number of fintech companies has surged by 66.7% and 50%, respectively, in the last two years. Ndejje University has retained the overall title in the Inter-University games for the sixth consecutive time. They emerged as winners of the 19th edition of the championship that concluded this evening at Uganda Christian University in Mukono. The Luwero-based university secured eleven medals, including eight Gold and three Silver medals. Hosts Uganda Christian University came second with six gold, four silver, and two Bronze medals. The Uganda Aids Commission is distributing 30 million condoms to parts of the country considered hotspots for the spread of HIV. The Kyotera district task force has lifted a two-week quarantine imposed on cattle movement and the sale of animal products. During a meeting held at Kyotera district headquarters, the leaders said there had been a decline in deaths of animals and humans who contract the disease.
