The Kampala Metropolitan Ministry has started enumerating vendors in various markets in preparation for new infrastructure development under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Urban Development Programme. According to the state minister for Kampala Kabuye Kyofatogabye, whenever markets are modernised, many vendors made to sub-rent stalls at inflated prices by higher-ranking government officials and politicians who illegally take control of stalls. The Minister for Agriculture Frank Tumwebaze has asked local leaders in coffee growing districts to support government's programme of having all coffee farmers registered. He says this is aimed at ensuring the the country produces quality coffee that can easily penetrate the global market and attract premium prices. With approximately 70% of hotel facilities nationwide operating without proper licenses and failing to meet the requisite standards, unlicensed hotels have been given a strict ultimatum of 48 hours to comply with registration requirements or face immediate closure. Amidst this crackdown, concerns have been raised about hotel managers' lack of awareness regarding the required physical and operational standards, prompting calls from industry stakeholders for the UTB to prioritize the sector. President Museveni today continued his wealth creation tours in the Teso sub-region to inspect the success of the Parish Development Model programs in Serere. Upon his arrival in Serere, the President inspected Joseph Ijala's home. Ijala, a former taxi conductor, now runs a four-acre model farm, earning substantially from 360 trays of eggs and 350 liters of milk each day.
