Lion club members in Uganda have commemorated the world diabetes day with a run and walk in Kampala. Commemorated annually on the 14th of November, the World diabetes days seeks to create awareness of diabetes and advocate for the sick. About 11.5% of global health expenditure is spent on diabetes annually, which amounts to USD 966billion.

St. John Parish Kawuku has launched celebrations of 45 years of impactful existence with a health walk and jubilant celebrations, reflecting the remarkable transformation the church has undergone over the years. The event brought together parishioners and community members in a show of unity and gratitude for God’s faithfulness.
Uganda government’s initiative to instill values of national pride through patriotism has graduated over 100 cadres at the Health Tutors’ College, Mulago. Health workers were urged to uphold integrity, compassion, and dedication to their profession, which is expected to enhance service delivery in the health sector.
Long distance walker, Shyaka Mbanda, has embarked on a 310km walk from Entebbe to Sheema district in Western Uganda, in a campaign to raise 50 million Uganda shillings to cater for vulnerable children. Shyaka is expected to walk for 12 days, and the proceeds from the campaign will be directed toward rehabilitation of Ishekye unit Centre for the handicapped located in Sheema district.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, CP Richard Echega, has urged fellow officers to prioritize service to the public and shun corruption within the Ugandan police force. Speaking, Saturday, at the official opening of the newly constructed Biwologoma Police Post at Entebbe Flyover Junction, Echega emphasized the importance of upholding integrity and transparency in law enforcement. The Biwologoma Police Post, built through a partnership between BAPs Charities and Ambitious Construction Company, was funded with an investment of over 50 million Ugandan Shillings.
Ugandans have been urged to respect nature and avoid poaching and torturing both domestic and wild animals since this violates their rights. The request was made by Hajji Isaac Mulindwa Makinawa from Busikiri, Wakiso district, who called on the President to intervene in the matter.

The stakeholders in West Nile have expressed concerns over the low school completion rate in the region and the lack of functional literacy among young people. This has led to the introduction of the West Nile Education Trust Fund, a program that will support poor but brilliant students in the region to do lucrative courses in public universities. This includes drafting an AI Act, policy, and comprehensive strategy aimed at regulating the use of AI to curb the spread of fake videos and misinformation across digital platforms. Collaborating with the legal community, academia, and the United Nations, the government aims to accelerate the establishment of regulations for emerging technologies like AI.
