The Uganda National Roads Authority is upgrading Nakawuka road from its current class C gravel road status to Asphalt- paved standard. A contractor has already on the 340 billion shillings project for three years running from 15th December 2023 to 15th December 2026. However, government is still grappling with the challenge of land acquisition and compensation of project-affected areas. Wakiso area leaders met with the minister of works and transport Gen. The Human Rights Watch has raised concerns over the government's lack of clarity on the Shakahola massacre where over 429 bodies were exhumed. 9 months after detention the main suspect Paul Mackenzie is yet to be prosecuted on the charges and the families who identified their kin are yet to be given the bodies for burial. The body has also expressed concern over how the government has taken so long to conclude the case and its lack of a proper information channel for families of the victims, human rights groups, and the media.

Ugandan authorities are currently detaining Stephen Tarus, Kenya's former Assistant Minister for Internal Security, on charges of smuggling gold into the country using counterfeit documents.
