CommSec's Tom Piotrowski says markets in the US are now pricing in a "near certainty" that the US Federal Reserve will be cutting interest rates in September. Actress Shelley Duvall has died at the age of 75. She was best known for her performance in 'The Shining' alongside Jack Nicholson and also starred in Annie Hall and Popeye. Her partner of 34 years says the actress died in her sleep at her home in Texas. She had been receiving hospice care in recent months after suffering complications from diabetes.

Australia will provide Ukraine with its largest single military package since the beginning of Russia's invasion. Under the new deal, $250 million has been earmarked for weapons and equipment while some defence personnel will be transferred to a new NATO security and training program for Ukraine. NATO allies have also agreed on $64 billion of military support over the next year. The announcement follows Moscow's recent bombardment on Kyiv in which dozens of people were killed.
