ASPI Senior Analyst Malcolm Davis says “anyone” who has a device connecting to the internet who uses it for work and does not regularly update its security is at risk of being exploited by hackers. “So hackers, be they in China or be they elsewhere, exploit these gaps, these vulnerabilities, not to gain access to the computer per se but to use the computer as a conduit into other networks that have far more valuable information,” he told Sky News Australia. “So if you’re working from home for a company, Chinese hackers can get into your computer and then get into your company’s networks and extract useful information.”

Menzies Research Centre Executive Director Nick Cater discusses his piece in The Australian about the demonisation of the right. “It’s going to black and white ... good and bad,” Mr Cater told Sky News host James Morrow. “This whole idea that politics goes from left to right, as you know, comes from the French National Assembly in the 18th century – it’s an arcane idea; politics doesn’t fit it like that. “But it suits the left … to keep on with this because then they can say that anybody on the conservative side who is slightly more conservative than averagely conservative is on the hard right.”
