Sir Keir Starmer and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak recently faced off in a final head-to-head debate. “I don’t think the debates have much impact at all,” Mr Howe told Sky News Australia. “A lot of people have already made up their mind that they wont vote for the Conservative Party. “I think it would be quite unusual for the debate to tip the scale in that regard. “The example in the US is probably a good example where a debate can tip the scale and impact the election, but in the UK’s case I don’t expect the debates to have any impact at all.”

The UK general election is scheduled for July 4. “The most that the Labour party have been projected to win is around 516 seats, and the lowest projections been around 406,” Mr Howe told Sky News Australia. “Personally, I would probably put it more towards the bottom end of that range. “That would depend on a number of factors.”

Senator Fatima Payman has now been indefinitely suspended from the Australian Labor Party Caucus after being summoned to a meeting at The Lodge in Canberra by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The PM has taken a harder line with Senator Payman as her previous one-week suspension has now been replaced with an indefinite suspension. This comes after the Labor Senator said this morning that she would cross the floor again in support of a Palestinian statehood
