Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has accused the Opposition of “struggling with numbers” during a fiery Question Time exchange. Shadow Energy Minister Ted O’Brien claimed the PM was asked three separate times to give the total system cost of the government’s energy plan. “He (O’Brien) can’t work out this is question two from those opposite,” Mr Albanese said. “You don’t have to count your fingers; you can just count your arms or heads.”

Hawker Britton Managing Director Simon Banks says nuclear has “turned up too late” and “costs too much”. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has appointed former New South Wales treasurer Matt Kean as the Chair of the Climate Change Authority. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton announced the Coalition’s nuclear plan last week. “I think there are very pragmatic reasons, and that’s the ultimate reason why nuclear isn’t the answer – it turns up too late, and it costs too much,” Mr Banks told Sky News Australia.

I think so and I hope so, but, right now, I can’t bet on technology that isn’t readily available.”

Australian Medical Association President Professor Steve Robson says the government’s vaping reform is about doing something "before it's too late". These comments come ahead of a vote on the federal government's anti-vaping crackdown in parliament this week. “I think the legislation also has to be coupled with an education campaign,” Professor Robson told Sky News Australia. “Wouldn’t it be fantastic if we could bring this in before it’s too late? “I think the idea that we all just lie down and give up is just the worst possible idea. “We’ve got to fight for the health of young Australian kids, not the profits of convenience stores.”

Australian Medical Association President Professor Steve Robson says vaping has led to “extraordinary” levels of dependence in “young Australians”. These comments come ahead of a vote on the federal government's anti-vaping crackdown in parliament this week. “The issue we see at the moment is that vapes have been overtaken from their original purpose,” Professor Robson told Sky News Australia. “They were designed to be a temporary smoking cessation aid for heavy smokers. “Unfortunately, vapes … have led to extraordinary levels of dependence in young Australians.”

Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes has called out the Labor Party for making “juvenile memes” about the Coalition’s nuclear policy. Opposition leader Peter Dutton announced the Coalition’s nuclear plan last week. “We’ve got those in the Labor Party making juvenile memes and then talking about the cost of nuclear around $8.6 billion – considerably less than $1.5 trillion,” Ms Hughes told Sky News Australia. “What Labor doesn’t want to discuss is the distribution side of energy – that is about 50 per cent of your bill. “Nuclear, where they’re being proposed by the Coalition, would connect straight to transmission lines, which would reduce cost, plus we’re talking about Australia owning them as opposed to foreign interests coming in.”

Assistant Defence Minister Matt Thistlethwaite says Australia does “not” have time to adopt nuclear energy because the world is “in a climate emergency”. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton announced the Coalition’s nuclear plan last week. “The other point to make is we simply don’t have time,” Mr Thistlethwaite told Sky News Australia. “We’re talking about 15 years before any of these nuclear power plants come online. “We simply do not have time. “We’re in a climate emergency, and we need to reduce emissions in a gradual process straight away – that’s what the government’s policies do.”

Assistant Defence Minister Matt Thistlethwaite says nuclear is the “most expensive” form of energy and Australians will face a “very big increase” if Australia adopts it. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton announced the Coalition’s nuclear plan last week. “The details haven’t been released yet,” Mr Thistlethwaite told Sky News Australia. “We know that nuclear is the most expensive form of energy that there is – that’s been confirmed by the CSIRO. “We’re talking about a very large cost for this policy that will flow onto consumers. “They’re going to face a very, very big increase in their electricity and their energy bills, but they don’t know the details at the moment.”

Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes says it is “very promising” to see “how supportive” Australians are at putting nuclear in the country’s energy mix. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton announced the Coalition’s nuclear plan last week. “Details will continue to be rolled out as we get closer to the election,” Ms Hughes told Sky News Australia. “This is normal in any policy process that you make an announcement and details … will be built up around it. “But what we do know is the seven sites have been announced, but we also know that they’re going to be on brownfield sites where transmission lines, the water for cooling, are already present. “The details will continue to roll out as we get closer to the election, but I think it’s very promising to see how supportive Australians are generally at putting nuclear in our energy mix.”

A Daily Telegraph survey reveals around two-thirds of people would like to work part of the week remotely and are willing to take a pay cut to do so. Sky News host Danica De Giorgio says “20-something” graduates should stay in the office as it is “unacceptable” to be sitting at home in your bed working in pyjamas. “An article in today’s Daily Telegraph caught my eye today, reporting 34 per cent of Australian workers are prepared to take a pay cut if it means they can work from home,” she said. “If you are a 20-something who has just graduated from university, and you are in your first job, sorry, go into the office and do some work. It is unacceptable to be sitting at home in bed in your pyjamas on your laptop doing work at midday; I just think it is terrible.” The survey revealed around 46 per cent of people work fully on-site, and two-thirds of people say they want to work remotely at least part of the week and are willing to receive a pay cut to achieve it.

Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers says the Royal Family are having to distance themselves from political parties over the recent announcement of the UK general election. “It is something the Royal Family try to distance themselves from when the general election was announced,” he said. “The Royal Family had to sort of rearrange their diary; they can’t be seen to be currying favour with any political party, apolitical as the Royal Family are.”

Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers says the speculation around why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle departed the UK continues to move on, but it seems the Sussexes “have their own reasons”. “They have their own reasons, don’t they … they feel they are making a go of it in the United States,” he said. “The only way they are going to repair this relationship with the family is by taking their foot off the gas; stop criticising the rest of the royals.”

One Nation Chief of Staff James Ashby says Labor has been “caught off guard” by the Coalition’s nuclear energy plans. “They are so ill-prepared, Labor, for this announcement that they are being caught off guard,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray. “And Labor really don’t have an argument against Peter Dutton’s very sensible plan for stability.”
