Tamboran Resources is raising capital and expects to make a final investment decision soon. Major project status means the company will receive extra government support to clear regulatory hurdles.

Pop star Justin Timberlake has been arrested and charged early on Tuesday for drink-driving in a village in New York’s Hamptons. Police said Timberlake, 43, was driving a grey 2025 BMW in Sag Harbor around 12:30 AM, when he ran a stop sign and veered out of his lane twice. Court documents stated he had “bloodshot and glassy” eyes, smelled of alcohol, had slowed speech, and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Timberlake claimed to have had one martini and was following friends home. After being arrested and taken to East Hampton police station, he refused a breath test and was later released without bond. His next court date is scheduled for July 26.

US President Joe Biden has been criticised online following his Tuesday speech at the White House. During his speech, President Biden added to his catalogue of gaffes and was roasted for it on X. “Biden's brain is malfunctioning in real-time — yikes!” wrote RNC Research. The oldest-ever sitting president announced a mass amnesty plan to give 500,000 illegal immigrants American citizenship. The policy was rolled out on Tuesday and announced the amnesty will apply to people who have lived in the US for at least 10 years. According to the Associated Press, the President's decision comes following criticism from Democrats over Biden’s southern border crackdown.

Nationals leader David Littleproud says the Coalition will “return ownership” of some of Australia’s power generation to the Australian people. Opposition leader Peter Dutton announced the Coalition’s nuclear plan at a media event on Wednesday. “Today was the first step in giving respect to those certain communities that, after … the initial assessment, that they are the best ones on which to proceed with,” Mr Littleproud told Sky News Australia. “It was also about making sure that Australians understood that, under Peter Dutton and David Littleproud, we’re going to return ownership of some of our generation of power to the Australian people, not to multinationals from overseas that come along, take it, and run off and to leave a legacy. “That’s the legacy that Peter Dutton and David Littleproud want to leave.”

Deputy Opposition leader Sussan Ley has slammed the Albanese government for their “trainwreck” of energy policy across Australia. “How can this Prime Minister promise a Future Made in Australia when he can’t keep the lights on today,” Ms Ley said at a media conference on Wednesday. “In order to have that Future Made in Australia, we have to have nuclear energy in the mix. “Labor promised to rebuild manufacturing, but, instead, we’ve got a trainwreck on energy policy right across this country.”

KPMG Chief Economist Brendan Rynne says monthly inflation figures are “bouncing around”. The Reserve Bank Board has kept the cash rate on hold at 4.35 per cent. Mr Rynne told Sky News Australia that the pattern of inflation is still “similar” to the United States.

US President Joe Biden has announced a program which will allow the undocumented spouses of American citizens to apply for citizenship. Under the current process, immigrants must leave the country while applying for citizenship - leaving them without assurance they will be allowed back. The changes will allow undocumented spouses to stay with their families in America while their visas are being processed. The White House believes approximately half a million people will benefit from the plan.

The Reserve Bank Board has kept the cash rate on hold at 4.35 per cent. It was warned the board considered raising interest rates to bring down inflation, which is still too high. RBA Governor Michele Bullock has said “we need a lot to go our way” to get inflation back down to the target band of 2-3 per cent.

Former New South Wales Treasurer Matt Kean has resigned from state politics to pursue a career in the private sector. The Liberal MP had served as the state member for the Northern Sydney electorate of Hornsby for 13 years. Mr Kean dispelled rumours he would be pursuing a career in federal politics and instead announced he would be moving into the energy industry. The outgoing MP also criticised the current state Labor government's new budget which he labelled 'the worst in modern history'.

The treasurer unveiled a record spend on social housing as part of a state budget tailored to helping those who need it most.
