Holocaust survivor Egon Sonnenschein has revealed he feels unsafe and threatened amid the rise of antisemitism in Australia. Mr Sonnenschein spoke to former treasurer Josh Frydenberg in part of a new Sky News Australia documentary 'Never Again: The Fight Against Antisemitism'. The former treasurer in the documentary takes a look at the danger antisemitism poses to social cohesion and how it undermines Australian values of tolerance and diversity. Mr Frydenberg said for someone who came from Europe after the horrors of the Holocaust and says he's now “feeling unsafe and threatened, that's just not on”. “It’s a sign, if we needed another sign, of a comprehensive failure of leadership in this country from government, from our institutions, from law enforcement. “That’s seen this explosion of antisemitism in the last eight months since the tragedy of October 7.”

Nationals Leader David Littleproud says “mutual respect” is required to turn the page on Australia’s relationship with China. This comes after China exercised a show of force around Taiwan. Mr Littleproud told Sky News host Sharri Markson that China must make sure it’s “respecting” the international law of the sea and air.

Former treasurer Josh Frydenberg has called for the Albanese government to take stronger actions to stop the rise of antisemitism in Australia. Mr Frydenberg claimed that Anthony Albanese doesn’t seem to be backing up his words with actions to stop the rise of antisemitism in Australia. “While I hoped he comprehended the gravity of the situation, I'd like to see a lot stronger action from here,” Mr Frydenberg said. “We can’t just replay what we’ve seen over the last eight months, for the next eight months, we need a reset from the government. “We need to see strong decisive leadership.”

Nationals Leader David Littleproud says “strong leadership is required” to stand up to China’s bullying. This comes after China exercised a show of force around Taiwan. Mr Littleproud told Sky News host Sharri Markson that Anthony Albanese should make very clear that China’s bullying is “not acceptable”.

Child and adolescent psychologist Clare Rowe has criticised the Albanese government's spending on the mental health sector claiming the money is not going where it is most desperately needed. Headline Advisory Director Andrew Carswell has praised Shadow Attorney-General Michaelia Cash after she marched out of a meeting with Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus regarding the religious discrimination legislation. Senator Cash said she was 'appalled by My Dreyfus’s behaviour … Mr Dreyfus needs to stop playing games with his religious discrimination legislation’. “I think Michaelia made a good stand here and she made a righteous stand,” Mr Carswell told Sky News host Sharri Markson. “She’s made a stand on what is an increasing secrecy within the government when it comes to the formation of its policies. “So good on Michaelia for taking up a fight here and pushing back.”

The Daily Telegraph’s Tim Blair says nuclear has caused “30 deaths” in the last 68 years but lithium-ion batteries caused “36 deaths” in the first half of 2023. “There is also the issue of nuclear energy, which, apparently, is a great terror even though you put all the nuclear disasters together of the last 68 years, I think there’s been four or five major disasters you could classify and 30 deaths,” Mr Blair told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “These things [lithium-ion batteries], I think, worldwide, 36 deaths just in the first half of 2023, yet there’s no panic.”

Liberal MP Julian Leeser slams the “failure of university leaders” to take control of the hatred on university campuses. This comes amid the increasing antisemitism across universities in Australia. “The purpose of a university is to educate people,” Mr Leeser told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “That’s all being interrupted by these protesters and the failure of university leaders … to speak up and to take action to put a stop to this antisemitism we’re seeing.”

This comes amid the increasing antisemitism across universities in Australia and calls for a judicial inquiry. “Universities are ground zero for antisemitism in Australia today,” Mr Leeser told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “People go to universities to learn about the world around them, and what if they are learning is … that Jews should be destroyed … then that is a terrible thing that we are creating for the next generation of Australians.”

Minister for Skills and Training Brendan O’Connor discusses how the Albanese government supports people to complete training and secure well-paid work. “We also struck a national skills agreement with state and territories – the first agreement of its kind in a decade,” Mr O’Connor said during Tuesday’s Question Time. “Providing $30 billion of security of investment to the sector. “We are creating centres of excellence, bringing tafes and universities and industry together.”

Minister for Skills and Training Brendan O’Connor says the Albanese government has “enacted big reforms” and “deepened its investment” in education training. “We inherited the biggest skill shortage in more than 50 years from those opposite,” Mr O’Connor said during Tuesday’s Question Time. “Last year alone, more than 355,000 Australians enrolled in fee-free TAFE and a further 320,000 fee-free TAFE places from this year on are available to enrol in.”

Defence Minister Richard Marles explained what aid is being sent to Papua New Guinea and what the Albanese government is doing to help displaced people after a landslide buried more than 2000 people. “We have a C-17, which is ferrying supplies between Australia and PNG,” Mr Marles said during Question Time on Tuesday. “In addition to the disaster response experts on their way to PNG, now the emphasis is on those who are displaced, and so we are working on transporting 750 family-sized shelters to the site. “There is more we are seeking to do, but to be frank, part of the issue here is about not overwhelming a system which is currently under a lot of stress. “What every Australian should know and, more importantly, what every Papua New Guinean should know is that we will do everything in our power to help Papua New Guinea through this most difficult time.”

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says there is “no equivalence” between Hamas and Israel. “This government and, indeed, this Parliament has been very clear from the beginning – we join together, most of us, to condemn the terrorist attacks of October 7th,” Mr Albanese said during Question Time on Tuesday. “We regard Hamas as a terrorist group. “There is no equivalence between Hamas and Israel.”

Sky News host Peta Credlin says she is “very dubious” of the government's $1 billion deal with PsiQuantum. The Albanese government has invested $1 billion in the California-based company to build the world’s first useful supercomputer. “I’m very dubious about any process that picks winners from government, that hands away a billion dollars to a mob in California,” Ms Credlin said. “But, we find out today too – significant links between PsiQuantum and Chinese academics and Chinese experts … concerns me a hell of a lot.”
