The Coalition has rubbished new modelling which shows its nuclear power plan could add more than $600 a year to household bills. “The Coalition says it’s not even close but is still yet to offer a figure of its own for how much the nuclear power plan would cost broadly but also at a household level,” says Sky News political reporter Cameron Reddin. “This new analysis done by an American think tank attempts to put a price for household power bills on how much the Coalition’s plan to build nuclear reactors at seven sites across the country would cost individual households. “The number it has landed on is $665 additional every year – that’s largely to cover the cost of construction.”

Sir Keir Starmer has been critised after his government revealed that they have decided against adopting the Italian-style approach of intercepting migrant boats in the channel and turning them back to France. According to Immigration Minister Dame Angela Eagle, the French don't accept that migrants should always be returned to them. If incidents happen in French territorial waters, they go back to France. If they happen in British territorial waters, we bring them into safety in the UK. Sky News host Liz Storer discussed the decision made by Keir Starmer’s government to not turn back migrant boats. “The UK just seems to be so reticent to do anything about what is a ginormous problem,” Ms Storer said. “Nigel Farage must be ripping his hair out with this latest announcement.”

Sky News host Rita Panahi has hit out at US mainstream media coverage of the second assassination attempt on Donald Trump. It comes as conservative watchdog group Media Research Centre found that despite a second attempt on Donald Trump’s life, the bulk of the mainstream media in the US has not lowered the temperature on its anti-Trump coverage. In the first 72 hours following the second assassination attempt on the former president, 95 per cent of (American) ABC, CBS, and NBC’s portrayal of Trump was negative. “That’s quite remarkable because this is such an astonishing event to occur, to have an attempt on a candidate’s life, a former president, to have it happen twice in two months,” Ms Panahi said. “Yet still no sympathy, no, okay, maybe we should stop calling him a threat to democracy. None of that. It’s just doubling down.”

Author Douglas Murray has called out left-wing media outlets for telling Donald Trump to tone down his language after facing two assassination attempts. Mr Murray encouraged the Democrats and the media to “tone down” their language about the former president being a threat to democracy. “I would like to think that if there had been two attempts on the life of Kamala Harris in the last few weeks that you would not find what right-wing media there is in America saying, ‘Well, she brought it on herself’,” he told Sky News host Rita Panahi. “I mean, that's a quite amazing thing with recent days in relation to Donald Trump, the left-wing media in America actually saying, ‘yeah, here's another assassination attempt on him, but maybe he shouldn't use such dirty words’. “I find that astonishing.”

Australian families are expected to transfer three-and-a-half trillion dollars worth of wealth between generations over the next twenty years. Baby boomers have accumulated most of this wealth and are already starting to distribute it to their children. Grant Thornton Head of Family Business Consulting Kirsten Taylor-Martin explained why this is significant for the Australian economy. “At the moment, only 12 per cent of family businesses successfully transition to the third generation, and only one in 20 families transition more wealth than what they inherited,” Ms Taylor-Martin told Sky News Business Reporter Edward Boyd. “So, if we don’t get this right, the stakes have just got a whole lot higher ... for the economy, we could have a lot more businesses go bankrupt, and that could cause unemployment.” In partnership with Grant Thornton.

Former Secret Service special agent Charles Marino has analysed where the Secret Service succeeded and failed in protecting Donald Trump amid the two recent assassination attempts targeting the former US president. “Unfortunately, the success came at the inner perimeter of the former president's protective detail who are with him all the time and travel with him,” he told Sky News host Gabriella Power. “Whenever you see that inner perimeter of that protection detail have to react and respond the way they did in these two latest attempts, that means something has failed and failed horribly wrong in the overall security plan.” Mr Marino highlighted a “failure in leadership” from the Secret Service and called for the federal agency to undergo a thorough review and potential transformation. “They have failed to apply the proper resources that are necessary,” he added. “They have failed to recognise the significance of the threat level towards the former president well in advance to these attempts taking place and I can tell you that the feeling is, including my own, is that it is time for the agency to overgo a thorough review and, if necessary, a thorough transformation.”
