Shadow Environment Minister Jonathon Duniam discusses whether New South Wals Labor’s deal with Origin Energy to keep the Eraring coal-fired power station open for an additional two years will need to be extended beyond the agreed-upon period of 2027. “Households across Australia, businesses across Australia need to have certainty around energy reliability, and their decision today to extend Eraring by two years to 2027 recognises that,” he told Sky News Australia. “Ruling out things like nuclear as they have, spuriously pointing to reasons why not rather than opening up for debate on whether we should have nuclear as part of the mix, I think that would be the mature approach. “Sadly, we don’t have that – it is all renewables and nothing else, and that will end in disaster.”

Shadow Environment Minister Jonathon Duniam discusses Opposition leader Peter Dutton’s push to reduce environmental approval time frames for resource projects. “Tanya Plibersek two years ago said that we would have environmental laws bought in under this government that would be better for the environment and better for business, and neither have eventuated,” he told Sky News Australia. “International companies that we want to invest here, that we want to create jobs here, are choosing from their boardrooms wherever they might be to invest in other countries because our approvals process is so unpredictable and protracted.”

Sky News host Rita Panahi has slammed the Victorian government for pushing ahead with a treaty despite the Voice to Parliament’s failure last year. It will be tabled in parliament in the next sitting week,” Ms Sharpe said during a media conference on Thursday.  “But we’re also providing a summary of that agreement.” Ms Sharpe’s remarks come after the Minns government signed a deal with Origin Energy to operate the coal-fired Eraring Power Station until August 2027.

Agriculture Minister Murray Watt says Opposition leader Peter Dutton made an “absolute mess” of Australia’s migration system when he was the Home Affairs minister. "Riddled with fraughts, completely lacking in integrity, an explosion in international student numbers, an explosion in exploitation and we’re fixing that," Mr Murray told Sky News Australia. “We’re already committed to half net overseas migration by next financial year, we’re well on track to achieve that.”

Sky News host Caleb Bond has reacted to the true reason Prince Harry declined an invite from King Charles to stay at a royal residence during his trip to the UK for the Invictus Games. According to a palace insider who spoke to The Telegraph, Prince Harry declined an invitation from the King to stay at a secret royal residence during his trip to the UK earlier this month because he had security fears. Prince Harry feared he would be in a “visible location with public entrance and exit points and no police protection”. “The King had actually tried to make room in his schedule, specifically to see his son,” Mr Bond said. “I mean, what a wastrel son this guy is.”

Sky News host James Macpherson has reacted to the real reason Prince Harry declined an invite from King Charles to stay at a royal residence during his recent trip to London.  A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex originally claimed the King’s busy schedule prevented a meeting with Prince Harry during the visit earlier this month, but it later emerged Charles did agree to put him up at a secret royal residence during the trip.  According to a palace insider who spoke to The Telegraph, Prince Harry declined the invitation because he had security fears that he would be in a “visible location with public entrance and exit points and no police protection”.  “Well, if you think American politics is a soap opera, well, it’s got nothing on the Royal Family – in fact, I think that’s why people don’t watch soap operas on television anymore because you really can’t go past Prince Harry and Meghan for drama,” Mr Macpherson said.  “The latest episode involves Prince Harry’s trip to the UK for the Invictus Games ... he had a typical sook as Harry does.”
