Voters in Moldova are facing an election which could decide whether the country moves closer to the East or the West. The former Soviet Union state, which borders Ukraine, will decide whether it should join the European Union.
Republican strategist Keith Hanson has labelled Kamala Harris an “installed candidate” because “nobody voted for her”. Former US president Donald Trump continues to have the momentum in the US presidential race just two weeks out from the election. “Nobody voted for her [Kamala Harris] in presidential primaries,” Mr Hanson told Sky News Australia. “She’s literally an installed candidate. “People are starting to wake up to that fact and realise that she’s an empty chair.”
The Coalition is vowing to solve Australia’s housing crisis, in a major pre-election announcement. It is hoped 500,000 new homes could be built under the multi-billion-dollar proposal.
Labor has held onto power in the ACT but only by the narrowest of margins. It will have to negotiate with a more diverse crossbench to form a minority government in the nation’s capital. ACT Labor has been in power in the territory for the last 23 years.

It wasn’t a comfortable win for Labor - it has managed to hold its original ten seats but the Greens vote has dropped dramatically. The Greens lost three of their six seats but will still be able to for a minority government with ACT Labor. It has been 20 years since Canberra last had a majority government.
Sydney's Northern Beaches could be set for another teal takeover, this time at a state level, with candidate Jacqui Scruby on track to claim the hotly contested seat of Pittwater. Three by-elections were held in NSW on Saturday but the Pittwater race was the most contested seat. Counting has stopped for the evening and will resume on Monday, with Ms Scruby currently leading by more than 3,600 votes. Ms Scruby joined Sky News NSW political reporter Julia Bradley saying "The results so far are very encouraging".
Sydney beaches reopened on Saturday after thousands of tar balls had been washed ashore earlier this week. Since Tuesday, little balls made up of oil, debris, and other pollutants have littered popular eastern suburbs, including Bronte, Bondi, and Coogee. Authorities closed the beaches citing safety concerns.
Medics in the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza say at least 30 Palestinians have died in an Israeli strike. One local news agency is reporting children were among those killed. The agency is also reporting that a separate strike on the Al Maghazi refugee camp has occurred, killing 11 people.
Vladimir Putin claims Russia wants lasting peace with Ukraine - despite not accepting any peace talks linked to a ceasefire. During an exchange with reporters - he said it was 'unrealistic' to strategically defeat Russia in Ukraine. Mr Putin says securing a peace deal in the region is central to Russia's long-term security.
Labor's 23-year grip on power in the ACT is in jeopardy – as a sharp rise in the independent vote has the Canberra Liberal Party within striking distance of forming government as votes continue to be counted. At this stage, Labor is most likely to form a minority government, and there will be no majority government in the ACT. There remains a narrow path for the Canberra Liberal Party to form a minority government. The current tally of seats has Labor retaining nine of their current ten seats and the Liberals have taken eight seats. The Greens vote has fallen dramatically with only one of their previously held eight seats currently being held.
Sky News host James Morrow has reacted to a resurfaced clip from 2010 of Kamala Harris which exposes the Vice President’s “obscene narcissism”. “I found a clip here that I want to share with you because I think it is really revealing about Kamala Harris and her obscene narcissism,” he said. In the resurfaced clip, the Vice President talks about how an illegal migrant released from prison through a program launched by the then San Francisco DA, Ms Harris, went on to attack a woman. “But guess who the real victim was here?” Mr Morrow said. “Oh, poor Kamala, I feel so bad for her – yes, that’s right, it’s all about her.”
Counting is underway in the ACT election, with the first data drop comprising mostly pre-polling, showing the Canberra Liberal Party is currently outpolling Labor on primary votes. The first data drop shows 40 per cent of the votes mostly comprised of electronic pre-polling. Liberal is currently polling at roughly 35 per cent to Labor’s 34 per cent, the Greens are polling at about 11 per cent and the Independents for Canberra are polling about 8 per cent.
Former Howard government minister Peter McGauran says former US president Donald Trump’s momentum is “unstoppable”. “I think it’s unstoppable momentum,” he told Sky News Australia. “I think Donald J Trump is heading back to the White House – not by a landslide. “I understand from contacts in the US that he’s almost over the line with certainty.”
Sky News contributor Prue MacSween says Vice President Kamala Harris is “so obsessed” with her Republican rival Donald Trump. “Look, if she’s having a bad hair day, she blames Trump – she is so obsessed with that man,” she told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio. “She’s a psycho, I really believe.”

The seventh running of The Everest was attended by 50,000 people who showed up to see 12 of the best sprinters in the world go head-to-head for a $20 million prize. Bella Nipotina passed race leader Giga Kick on the last straight to win the race.
Commonwealth Bank is urgently working to resolve an error after receiving hundreds of customer complaints about their money being stolen. Customers reported seeing several duplicate transactions where payments came out of their accounts twice. A spokesperson for the bank says all duplicate charges will be refunded and apologises to affected customers. Several customers have also reported being unable to access customer service due to long hold times.
Former Howard government minister Peter McGauran has predicted Steven Miles won’t be Queensland’s premier after the election next week. “Miles is not going to be premier after the election,” he told Sky News Australia. “But he has done a little bit better than people expected. “There will be a Liberal National Party government next Saturday night, but Miles deserves some credit.”

Mr McGauran’s remarks come as Mr Albanese is on track to buy a $4.3 million house at Copacabana on the New South Wales Central Coast – an area his wife-to-be is from.
Ties between North and South Korea have reached a new low after Pyongyang rewrote its constitution to call the South a “hostile state”. North Korea now says tensions have reached “the unpredictable brink of war”. North Korea is moving towards abandoning its goal of unification by amending its constitution to label South Korea as a “hostile state”. This comes after North Korea destroyed road and rail links with South Korea.
Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have exchanged personal insults while campaigning in Michigan for the upcoming US election. The Democratic candidate mocked her Republican rival for avoiding debates and cancelling interviews. “His team at least are saying he’s suffering from exhaustion, and that’s apparently the excuse for why he’s not doing interviews and, of course, he’s not doing the CNN Town Hall,” Ms Harris said. Meanwhile, Mr Trump defended himself, claiming he was “exhilarated” rather than exhausted before going on to attack the Vice President’s intelligence. “We’re killing her in the polls because the American people don’t want her – she didn’t pass her bar exam, she’s not a smart person, she’s not a person that should represent our country,” Mr Trump said.
