Princess Catherine’s “evocative and moving video” update on her cancer journey has provided new insight into the Princess of Wales' health journey and the family’s relationship. Sky News contributor Louise Roberts joined Sky News host Caroline Di Russo to discuss the message behind Princess Catherine’s recent video. “I mean, gone are the days of reading an autocue statement in front of a camera or indeed just pumping out a press release,” Ms Roberts said. “This was a very evocative and moving video. So genuine, you felt that you got a real insight into the family but also at the same time that they have still protected their privacy.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been invited to spend Christmas with Princess Diana’s family in the UK. According to the Express, Princess Diana's brother, Charles, invited the Duke and Duchess of Success as well as their children to spend Christmas at the Althorp. Sky News contributor Louise Roberts joined Sky News host Caroline Di Russo discuss Prince Harry and Meghan’s plans for the holiday season. “I think they'd be crazy to knock back Charles' request to see them at the family home there, and who knows, it may even lead to some kind of reconciliation in Sandringham with the rest of the family,” Ms Roberts said. “They've not been at Sandringham for Christmas since 2018. So I think it will be quite monumental if that bridge was built for them.”

Sky News host Paul Murray has reacted to Clover More winning a sixth term as lord mayor for the City of Sydney, as New South Wales local election season ended with a surge of informal votes. Residents across the state cast ballots on Saturday, although many chose not to back a candidate of any description, with informal voting rates as high as 25 per cent seen in a number of local government areas. "Disappointing because more of the same is not good for anywhere after that length of time," Mr Murray said.

Sky News contributor Louise Roberts has criticised Prince Harry’s birthday message. In a statement to the BBC, the Duke of Sussex spoke of the “joys” of being a father and how he wanted to make a difference in the world. Ms Roberts claimed the message was really just so “vanilla and pointless”. “Saying that he still wants to do good where he can was really so vanilla and pointless in a way because it was a great opportunity for him to say,” Ms Roberts told Sky News host Caroline Di Russo. “I mean, what was to stop him from actually saying in that message, I'm sorry to my family and actually trying to make good with the people who really should matter the most to him?”

Sky News contributor Louise Roberts has commented on a viral moment between the New Zealand women's rugby union team the Black Ferns with King Charles at Buckingham Palace ahead of their match against England. New Zealand's women's rugby union team appeared to surprise King Charles after they asked the monarch for a hug during a reception at Buckingham Palace. New Zealand player Winger Ayesha Leti-I'iga asked to hug the monarch, to which the King replied: "A hug, why not?" “It's so natural and authentic in the way Charles' eyes sort of light up and says, why not? And they move in for a cuddle, which he then, you know, likens to being in a bit of a rugby scrum, you know, in a beautiful, light-hearted way,” Ms Roberts told Sky News host Caroline Di Russo. “He made them feel so welcome. There was no awkwardness about it, and I do think it was charming Charles at his very best.”

There are some “glimmers of hope” for renters as new PropTrack data shows early signs of market stabilisation, according to REA Group senior economist Eleanor Creagh. “We have seen the pace of rental price growth nationally has remained flat for the past two months straight,” she told Sky News Australia. “That is the same across the capital cities with the exception of Melbourne and Darwin with the rental price growth remaining flat for the past two straight months. “A bit of a change from that trend we have seen for much of the past three years whereby pretty much every single month rental prices have been increasing month after month for most of the past three years.”

Liberal Senator Alex Antic says the left wing of politics in Australia seems to adore “cosmopolitan authoritarianism”. Under the proposed misinformation bill put forward by the Albanese government, social media companies could be fined up to five per cent of their global revenue if they fail to adequately crack down on misinformation and disinformation on their platforms. “Ultimately, this will serve as a great big wet blanket over the top of free speech,” Mr Antic said.

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says an “extraordinary deal” between the government and Opposition will see Australians who want to go into aged care pay up to $13,000 a year extra for their care. Australians who want to pay for their aged care through interest from refundable accommodation deposits will pay tens of thousands more in capital from those deposits to pay for the upkeep of aged care homes. “It's all about making the aged care system more sustainable for the federal budget, with a focus on people staying at home for longer,” Mr Clennell said. “The government has provided more funds for home care as part of the package – a system which enables elderly people to have their homes fitted out and services provided to keep them at home longer.”
