The Daily Mirror's Royal Editor Russell Myers says it would be “positive step” for Australia if King Charles visited the country. “I mean Anthony Albanese said this week that they will be welcoming certainly plans are in place to welcome the King later on in the year. “One would assume that would happen alongside the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting which is in Samoa in October. “So I think it’s a positive step. “I think that we will have these plans enlarged over the next few months.”

The Daily Mirror's Royal Editor Russell Myers says rumours over Kate's post-op whereabouts have continued to swirl following the British Army taking down an announcement that the Princess of Wales would attend the King’s birthday celebrations. The Princess of Wales will make her first public appearance in June, according to the British Army, as they announce she will attend the King’s birthday celebrations on the 15th. It is the first official duty announced for the Duchess since she underwent abdominal surgery in January, although Kensington House is yet to confirm her appearance. "Yesterday the ministry of defence posted that she would be returning to royal duties just before the King's official birthday of Trooping the Colour," he told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio. "So lots of excitement about that, Kensington Place got involved, they said we're were the only people who are going to confirm her diary. "Somebody's basically had their hands dragged over the coals about making such a big mistake as to putting that diary entry out online."

Shadow Education Minister Sarah Henderson has criticised the University of Sydney over its decision to get rid of advanced mathematics as a prerequisite for dozens of its degrees. “Arguably this is dumbing down degrees,” she told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “It is of a concern because over 20 years we’ve seen students under our international standards go backward by about 10 per cent in their mathematics achievements. “So we need to work a lot harder to lift our standards in maths, not dumb them down. “The fact that there is no longer an advanced mathematics prerequisite for science and engineering at Sydney Uni has been broadly criticised and with good reason.”

The Australian has revealed the state government has passed legislation allowing parents and students to appeal school suspensions. “We’re talking about short term suspensions,” Mr Murray said. “It is extraordinary that this power would be handed over to kids and parents to be able to challenge one of the few tools teachers have in the discipline of their schools. “When the OECD tells us that the behaviour in our classrooms gets worse and worse and worse.”

The Megyn Kelly Show host Megyn Kelly has called the US Supreme Court's ruling on Donald Trump a “resounding victory”. “No, I mean it was a resounding victory for team Trump and for democracy frankly,” Ms Kelly told Sky News host Paul Murray. “I mean how can you let some unelected person, a judge who’s in Colorado and in Maine, it was an elected person who wasn’t even a lawyer, to say he's an insurrectionist, he's out and ruin the federal election of a president for the rest of the country, it makes no sense. “Even the liberals on the Supreme Court saw it that way.” Ms Kelly joined Sky News host Paul Murray to discuss the US Supreme Court's unanimous decision in favour of keeping former US president Donald Trump on state ballots.

Former foreign minister Alexander Downer says there was “no need” for the ASIO chief Mike Burgees to say anything about a politician selling Australia out to Chinese spies without naming them. It comes as Mike Burgess promulgated that a former Australian politician who was serving in either state, territory or federal parliament at the time was recruited by a foreign intelligence service. “I think it’s an extraordinary thing to do for the head of an intelligence agency… to come out and say there is a former politician who’s been, in effect, a spy, but I’m not going to name her or him,” Mr Downer told Sky News Australia host Chris Kenny. “It’s an extraordinary thing to do, and it’s led to endless speculation as to who it may be. “There was no need for him to say that.”

Sky News host Rita Panahi has praised UFC CEO Dana White for how he handled a “lefties losing it” journalist. Mr White was asked a question by a journalist about what UFC fighters say in the octagon. “You obviously give a long leash to your fighters about what they can say when they are up there with the UFC microphone, you are getting into territory of homophobia, transphobia,” the journalist asked. Mr White responded by saying he doesn’t give “anybody a leash”. “Control what people say, gonna tell what to believe … that’s ridiculous.”
