The Albanese Labor government has committed to introducing a social media age limit. The world-leading legislation will mean Australians under the age of 16 will be banned from using social media apps. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has called a special cabinet meeting on Friday to ask states and territories to support the proposal. It will come into effect 12 months after passage of the legislation and will be reviewed following its commencement.

Radio host Ray Hadley has publicly announced his retirement. The 2BG morning host will step away from full-time radio after 43 years. The Hall of Fame inductee will walk away from the industry after his final show on December 13 this year.

Sky News host Paul Murray has criticised US Vice President Kamala Harris’ “word salad” concession speech. “That was sort of the word salad was there at the end, and it was a bit rotten,” Mr Murray said. “This was over last night in terms of what the campaigns knew at 10 o’clock.”
Shadow Home Affairs and Cyber Security Minister James Paterson has urged the importance of the Albanese government working collectively with the new US administration. The stock market greeted Donald Trump’s presidency with record prices and an increase in his wealth. “His Trump media and technology business … it’s risen … Donald Trump’s own personal wealth is up around $US100 million,” Mr Greenwood said. “The biggest winner of all … Elon Musk. “Tesla shares have jumped by some 15 per cent on the stock market … Elon Musk’s own personal wealth … is up by $US15.4 billion. Mr Greenwood continued, breaking down Trump’s tariff proposal and the potential ramifications for consumers. “Interest rates have risen, and the expectation is because if you suddenly raise these tariffs, you raise the price of goods in America, you increase inflation, so you don’t get the big interest rate cuts that many Americans right now are riding on,” he concluded.
At least 30 people have been killed in a deadly Israeli strike on an apartment building south of Beirut, according to Lebanon’s Civil Defence agency. Local media reports seven women and three children were killed in the attack. Hezbollah claims it is open to ceasefire talks if Israel stops its attacks on Lebanon.

Wrong Speak Publishing Founder Adam B Coleman says former United States president Barack Obama’s “scolding” of people to not vote for Donald Trump did not help “whatsoever”. “I don’t think it helped whatsoever, I saw a lot of online backlash to his scolding,” Mr Coleman said. “What was very amazing about it is, in any other campaign situation you would say oh that was a misquote or he should not have said that but he does not speak for everybody else.”
