Independent analyst Evan Lucas says the IMF’s grim forecast for Australia’s 2025 inflation rate is “not surprising at all”. The International Monetary Fund has released a revised forecast predicting Australia’s 2025 inflation rate will be among the highest of all advanced economies. “If you look at what we refer to as sticky inflation … things that take more than three to four months to move in price - that’s things like rent, that’s things like education, medical, personal care, insurance,” Mr Lucas told Sky News Australia. “They are holding at the moment at about four-and-a-half, five per cent; so it’s not hard to see their argument.”
The death toll from an alleged terror attack in Turkey has risen to at least five. This comes after a large blast was heard outside the headquarters of a defence and aerospace company near the capital Ankara. CCTV captured the moment a man and woman carrying guns entered the headquarters. The two attackers are said to be “neutralised”.

This comes after Australian Energy Market Operator head Daniel Westerman said he cannot guarantee the current government policies will deliver lower power prices. Mr Lucas said the “trilemma” regarding the energy policies is balancing security, affordability and sustainability. “At the moment, sustainability is probably overtaking affordability,” he said.

This comes as Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has said that he is backing US Vice President Kamala Harris with a donation of $US50 million. “They have absolutely and comprehensively screwed the pooch,” Mr Hildebrand said. “They have been doing it by accusing him (Trump) of being a fascist and a threat to democracy, they have done it by trying to put him in jail and now this guy is going to win.”

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has said that he is backing US Vice President Kamala Harris with a donation of $US50 million. “This is a strange move from Gates, given he has avoided giving massive political donations throughout his prolific career,” Ms Storer said.
Sky News host Caleb Bond says it seems to “get worse” every day for Kamala Harris. Mr Bond said Kamala Harris is “going backward in the polls”. “And Trump’s going forward.”
Menzies Research Centre Senior Fellow Nick Cater slams Senator Lidia Thorpe labelling her as “unkempt and unprincipled” after she yelled “obscenities” at the King during a ceremony at Parliament House. “I am really astounded that the Senate can’t get together and vote her out,” Mr Cater told Sky News host Rita Panahi. “She did take a loyal oath, albeit through gritted teeth, to the sovereign to the crown and clearly disobeyed that and clearly showed she did not believe that one inch by her outrageous behaviour this week. “This very unkempt, unprincipled woman stands up and starts yelling obscenities at the King and she is a member of our parliament – I’m embarrassed by that, quite frankly.”
Geologist Ian Plimer has poked holes in Matt Kean’s stance on nuclear energy. Mr Plimer’s comments follow the Climate Change Authority chair’s claim nuclear energy would increase energy bills. “This is just sheer stupidity,” Mr Plimer told Sky News host Rita Panahi. “Mr Kean should know that when Finland put in its reactors … the cost of electricity went down. “By far the most expensive energy in Australia is solar and wind – this is when you look at the total cost. “Solar and wind are not reliable whereas nuclear, coal and gas are reliable.”

Sky News host Peta Credlin says the International Monetary Fund “isn't buying the government's spin” on their economic management. In a report out today, the International Monetary Fund tips that – by the end of next year - Australia's inflation rate will be higher than every other advanced economy, except Slovakia. Inflation will be ‘sticky’ at 3.6 per cent in December 2025, while the US, the UK, New Zealand and most of Europe will be at 2 per cent or less. “None of this bodes well for the Albanese government's hopes of a pre-election rate cut,” Ms Credlin said.
Nationals Leader David Littleproud says interest rates are going to stay “higher for longer” because of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. “This is all homemade, it’s been homegrown here in Canberra by Anthony Albanese and Jim Chalmers,” Mr Littleproud told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “They’ve been spending your money.”
NSW Farmers President Xavier Martin warns there has been an “unholy rush” to implement renewables by developers. “It’s really good to finally see the government recognise the need for a fair, independent and effective avenue for rural families and farmers in particular to address the issues that are just legacy now with renewable developers,” Mr Martin told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “It’s been an unholy rush and there’s just an extraordinary backlog of issues to resolve.”

Mr Kenny said there is a “new battleground” in Victoria, with the state government looking to overhaul anti-vilification laws. “Critics point out that the laws are going to hamper free speech by lowering the threshold and broadening the grounds for vilification.”
