Sky News host Rita Panahi says New South Wales Liberal Party President Don Harwin “has to go” after his “stuff up”. The New South Wales Liberals are in chaos after a paperwork blunder saw the party fail to lodge applications for all candidates in the upcoming local government elections. “The Liberals – there’s just no meritocracy there; there’s no accountability there,” Ms Panahi said. “If there’s to be any accountability, this character has to go. “He cannot stick around with a stuff up of this proportion.”

Shadow Housing Minister Michael Sukkar says Independent MP Zali Steggall is “calling Australians racist” after she accused Opposition Leader Peter Dutton of racism. Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell has revealed Mr Dutton will seek legal advice after Ms Steggall called him a “racist” over his stance opposing the government giving Palestinians visas. “What people like Zali Steggall and others who start pointing their finger and calling racism, they’re calling Australians racist,” Mr Sukkar told Sky News Australia. “Australians want secure borders.”

Shadow Housing Minister Michael Sukkar says the Albanese government is potentially bringing to Australia the supporters of a “listed terrorist organisation”. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has argued Prime Minister Albanese misled parliament by quoting selectively from the ABC’s interview with ASIO Director-General Mike Burgess last week in terms of security checks on the Palestinians who came here. “If you look at the Syria example as the most recent relevant comparison, we were bringing in people being persecuted by ISIS,” Mr Sukkar told Sky News Australia. “Now, the sticking point here is that the government could be potentially bringing in supporters and sympathisers of the listed terrorist organisation we’re referring to.”

Shadow Housing Minister Michael Sukkar says the Albanese government thinks there is “nothing wrong” with Hamas sympathisers coming to Australia. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has argued Prime Minister Albanese misled parliament by quoting selectively from the ABC’s interview with ASIO Director-General Mike Burgess last week in terms of security checks on the Palestinians who came here. “They [the Labor government] have a cavalier attitude clearly to this issue,” Mr Sukkar told Sky News Australia. “They think there’s nothing wrong with bringing Hamas sympathisers and supporters, potentially, into this country. “That is the fundamental disagreement here.”

Industry and Science Minister Ed Husic has accused Opposition Leader Peter Dutton of “playing politics” following his controversial call for a blanket ban on humanitarian visas for Palestinians. The Liberal Party leader called for a blanket ban on arrivals from the war-torn enclave on Wednesday, prompting several Labor ministers to publicly reject the idea. “Peter Dutton is playing politics on this issue in the face of one of the worst humanitarian crises we've seen,” Mr Husic told Sky News Australia. “If it comes to a choice between national unity and social cohesion versus dividing, Peter Dutton always makes the wrong choice. Always. “He's always opted to erode social cohesion and make calls that are in political interest rather than national interest. “I think that speaks volumes about Peter Dutton, someone who is seeking to be an alternative Prime Minister.”

Shadow Housing Minister Michael Sukkar has slammed the Albanese government for its “outrageous” action of “circumventing process” on visas. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has argued Prime Minister Albanese misled parliament by quoting selectively from the ABC’s interview with ASIO Director-General Mike Burgess last week in terms of security checks on the Palestinians who came here. “We are circumventing proper process to ensure the integrity of our migration system and ultimately to ensure the safety of Australians by having an expedited process that we know for a fact means some people have arrived here with no face-to-face checks,” Mr Sukkar told Sky News Australia. “This idea that you can bring somebody in on a visa in 24 hours and then just to glibly say we ran through the same process that that 12-month process took for the Coalition is outrageous.”

Dr Phillip Kay, director of emergency medicine at the Princess Alexandra Hospital for 23 years, said there was regular political interference by "the people in suits" who endangered patient safety. “He has really opened up on this; he thinks that the hospital system in Queensland is at the point of collapse,” Mr Houghton said. “He blames the people in suits, as he calls them; he says the bureaucrats make decisions that ... have a negative impact on patient health, and he thinks there should be a new system where they’re bypassed.”
