French President Emmanuel Macron has urged his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to coordinate closely with Europe over bilateral issues. Mr Xi is in Paris for a trilateral meeting amid growing trade tensions between China and Europe. Mr Macron added that France does not want to “move away" from China, highlighting efforts to avert a trade war involving potential tariffs on Chinese imports. Meanwhile, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen said the EU is counting on China to influence Russia to end its aggression on Ukraine. Alex Cadier and Deborah Wong report.

Sales of luxury homes in Singapore have fallen by 50 per cent in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period in 2023. Such homes, mostly apartments, are those worth at least S$5 million. Foreigners buying these homes have dropped by 98 per cent, with just one sale to an overseas buyer. A teenager has become the first Singaporean race driver to be signed by a Formula One (F1) team. Sixteen-year-old Kabir Anurag joins BWT Alpine F1 Academy as its ninth development driver for this season. BWT Alpine F1 says Kabir will have access to the team’s facilities at its F1 base in the English town of Enstone. He will also benefit from the guidance and support of both the Academy’s fleet of staff and the wider F1 team. Aslam Shah reports.

Another five will soon follow suit, in having more than one in five seniors being aged 65 and above.
