Pro-Palestinian protests have continued at major US universities, as students express outrage at the mounting death toll in Israel's war in Gaza. Students are calling for universities to separate themselves from firms advancing Israel's military efforts, and in some cases, from Israel itself. Meanwhile, in Gaza, Israel said it is moving ahead with its planned operation in the southern city of Rafah. Sarah Coates reports from Tel Aviv.
The global mining industry is bracing for its biggest shake-up in more than a decade. The world's number one mining company BHP Group has proposed a takeover of Anglo American, valuing the London-based company at nearly $39 billion. Anglo American investors will receive £25.08 ($31) per share. They will also get shares in Anglo American Platinum and Kumba Iron Ore. BHP's bid is a huge bet on copper, which analysts said may fuel a scramble for mining assets. Copper prices hit a two-year high earlier this week. Olly Barratt reports.

The US Supreme Court is preparing to hear arguments on presidential immunity that could have implications for election subversion criminal cases against former president Donald Trump. Muhammad Syafie Ismail was charged on Thursday (Apr 25) over a fatal accident in Tampines that involved six vehicles. The 42-year-old was handed four charges, including one count of dangerous driving causing death. US President Joe Biden has signed into law a bill that could result in social media app TikTok being banned from America, unless it divests from its parent company Bytedance. Lawmakers have cited national security concerns over its connection to China. TikTok is expected to take its fight to the courts, arguing the move would violate freedom of speech. The 42-year-old driver who allegedly caused the fatal multi-vehicle crash in Tampines has been arrested for dangerous driving causing death. His driving licence has been suspended. Eight people were taken to hospital, including the driver of a black car which was seen on various online videos crashing into other vehicles at high speed. Two people subsequently died. Police say the driver was discharged from hospital on Apr 24 and subsequently arrested. Alxis Thng reports.
