Thailand is working to help dial down tensions in Myanmar by engaging with Myanmar's military regime as well as ethnic armed groups. Clashes between both sides have shown no signs of easing. A high-level delegation is visiting the Thai-Myanmar border town of Mae Sot to assess the increasingly tense situation. Thai Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-nukara has visited the region twice in less than two weeks. He was joined by Thailand's interior and defence ministers. May Wong reports from Mae Sot.
Ten people have died after two Malaysian navy helicopters collided in mid-air during training. Seven choppers were participating for a fly pass in conjunction with the Malaysian navy's 90th anniversary in the state of Perak this morning. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash. It has been revealed that one of the helicopters, AW139, only joined the rehearsal for the first time this morning. The navy's 90th anniversary celebration slated for this Friday has been cancelled, and a mass prayer will be held instead. Melissa Goh reports.

A Randstad survey of almost 760 respondents aged between 18 and 67 has found work flexibility -- in terms of hours and location -- to be a critical deciding factor for jobseekers in Singapore. It found that two in five would not accept a job that is too inflexible. Some 95% placed work-life balance at a higher priority than pay, in terms of importance of current and future jobs. Firms that aren't going green or improving diversity and inclusivity may also find it difficult to attract millennials and Gen Zs. Ms Archana Srinivasan from the Institute for Human Resource Professionals discussed the findings.
Temasek Junior College said it is in touch with the family of its student, who died in a multi-vehicle accident at the junction of Tampines Avenue 1 and Avenue 4 this morning. 17-year-old Afifah Munirah, who was a passenger in her father's car, was one of two persons killed during the crash. The other victim is a 57-year-old woman, who was a passenger in another vehicle. Authorities told CNA that the incident involved four cars, a van and a mini bus. A 42-year-old car driver is assisting with police investigations.
Efforts by the National University Health System to cut energy use last year saved enough electricity to power almost 14,000 four-room HDB flats for a year. NUHS said the carbon footprint it reduced is akin to planting more than 360,000 tree seedlings for 10 years. The group revealed this at the inaugural Healthcare Sustainability Symposium, where it also showcased its sustainability efforts. NUHS said it has already invested S$10 million into sustainability efforts across its four hospitals and seven polyclinics.
The first community node along the southern part of the Rail Corridor is now open. Located in Buona Vista, it offers workers and residents new spaces for sports and play, as well as community and cultural events. It is the fourth node along the trail that's up and running, with at least three other sites in the works. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been accused of making Islamophobic comments during a rally, triggering widespread anger from Muslims and members of the opposition. Mr Modi said if the opposition Congress is voted back into power, it would distribute citizens' wealth among what he called "infiltrators" and "those who have more children", explicitly referring to Muslims in India. The world's most-populous nation is in the midst of a six-week long election, in which Mr Modi is expected to secure a rare third consecutive term. Priyata Brajabasi reports from New Delhi.
Singapore's new Invincible-class submarine, named Inimitable, has been launched in the German city of Kiel. It is the last of four customised submarines specially designed for the country. The 70m-long Invincible-class submarines are meant to replace their ageing Challenger- and Archer-class counterparts, which were built more than 40 years ago. At the launch event, Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean said Singapore needs steadfast and reliable partners around the world to tackle shared challenges, such as protecting the global maritime commons. The US and the Philippines launched the largest and most expensive iteration of their annual joint military exercises today. More than 16,000 Filipino and American soldiers are taking part in the drills dubbed Balikatan, or "shoulder to shoulder". This comes a little more than a week after the historic trilateral summit between the US, Philippines and Japan. China has accused the Philippines of stoking tensions through Balikatan exercises, but officials have insisted that the exercises are inclusive. Buena Bernal reports.
Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin is scheduled to visit the Thai-Myanmar border town of Mae Sot tomorrow, amid fresh clashes between Myanmar forces and armed ethnic groups in the region. The latest violence has been centred in the town of Myawaddy in Myanmar, which shares the border with Mae Sot. The Thai district police chief has estimated that at least a thousand people have fled into Thailand due to the conflict. Thailand has crafted short- and long-term plans to ensure it can respond promptly to emergent situations. May Wong reports from Mae Sot.
Protests erupted in Jakarta, after Indonesia's Constitutional Court rejected challenges to the country's presidential election result, clearing the path for Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto to take office in October. The two losing candidate pairs had sought disqualification of Mr Prabowo and his running mate, as well as a re-run of the election. But, the court's decision -- which is final and binding -- puts an end to all election disputes. The court also asked legislators to improve election laws, especially regarding campaigns.
