A new attraction is targeting to elevate Sentosa as a top global destination. A nature-inspired trail is opening on Mar 14 and it will link the island's beaches to Resorts World. A new study out of Singapore will spotlight the crucial role women in tech play across Southeast Asia, and encourage more women to pursue and thrive in tech careers. Loke Wei Sue and Otelli Edwards spoke with Quinny Lei from Grab and Assistant Professor Iris Yu from NUS on the challenges women face in the tech industry. Ms Lei told CNA she entered the tech sector by chance, while Ms Yu talked about whether more girls are keen on a career in STEM.

It is crucial to have more women in artificial intelligence roles to tackle the current gender bias in the technology, says Ms Ruby Pryor, founder and CEO of user experience consulting firm REX. As of 2022, only 30 per cent of AI talent were women, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2023. With AI influencing nearly every sector, it is important that “we are creating technologies that are equally accessible and are not going to have ingrained bias”, she tells CNA’s Asia Now. Some public servants have received notice of their role as election officials since last week, CNA has learned. The Elections Department (ELD) reiterated on Wednesday (Mar 6) that it appoints and trains public officers "on an ongoing basis" to perform election duties.
