Japan's Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba vowed on Monday (Oct 28) to stay in office, despite his ruling Liberal Democratic Party losing its parliamentary majority for the first time in 15 years. More than 230,000 Singaporeans aged 50 and above have appointed someone to act on their behalf if they lose the mental capacity to do so. This is up by around 30 per cent since July 2023. The jump comes after the process of applying for a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) was made easier through an online portal, pushed on by a nationwide campaign to drive awareness. The Government says Lee Hsien Yang is creating a false urgency by pushing for the immediate demolition of the property at 38 Oxley Road. In his online posts, Mr Lee claims that his father - Singapore's late founding prime minister, Lee Kuan Yew - wanted the property to be demolished in his will. The statement says Mr Lee Hsien Yang is doing so, knowing that what he says about that will is inaccurate. Richa Mathew with more.

Private property prices declined 0.7 per cent in the third quarter, reversing four quarters of growth. Analysts say this is as more people bought homes outside the central region where prices are lower, resulting in what appears to be an overall price drop in the market, even though the number of units transacted rose 9.3 per cent on-quarter. Yet, analysts still expect momentum in prices for the rest of the year, as demand is still high for housing. This is reflected in the sharpest increase in public housing resale prices since 2022. Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has apologised for the deaths of 85 people in the 2004 Tak Bai massacre. She issued the apology a day before the statute of limitations lapses on the 20-year-old case.
