Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is leading his new Cabinet on an unconventional three-day military retreat, hoping to bring together the 100 members of a new government in the early days of his presidency. They have gathered at the Indonesian Military Academy in the mountainous region of Magelang, Central Java. Cabinet members, dressed in camouflage uniforms and combat boots, were seen taking part in morning exercises and military drills in the parade square. They will also be attending briefings on current issues. Randy Mulyanto reports from Jakarta.

At least 26 people in the northeastern Philippines have died from Tropical Storm Trami, which dumped unprecedented rainfall and triggered floods and landslides. More than 150,000 residents have been forced to flee their homes since Trami made landfall on Thursday (Oct 24). The woman at the centre of a rape trial in France that has shocked the world has taken the stand in a trial. She said her life has "collapsed into nothingness" and denounced the "immeasurable" betrayal by her now former husband, Dominique Pelicot. More than 50 men are accused of raping Gisèle Pelicot while she was unconscious, after having been repeatedly drugged by ex-husband over a decade. Ms Pelicot could have requested for the trial to stay behind closed doors with the explicit details and video evidence out of the public eye, but instead, she said it's not her shame to bear, but her rapists. BRICS leaders have adopted a joint communique that touts an alternative international payment system and trade projects. The award recognises publications with a lasting impact on how we understand Singapore's history. Author of the winning work, food historian Khir Johari, received the cash award of $50,000. The Urban Redevelopment Authority has put on hold a review of Lee Hsien Yang's application to demolish the property at 38 Oxley Road. Mr Lee is the sole legal owner of the house that was once home to his father, founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew. The URA is deferring its evaluation, following a decision by the National Heritage Board to assess the site's preservation potential by studying its national, historical and architectural significance. Indonesia aims to have two million electric cars and 13 million electric motorcycles on its roads by 2030. There are also plans to further develop the country's EV ecosystem, in view of its large nickel resources that can support the industry. Sales of electric cars surged 177% year-on-year from January to August and contributed over 4% to total national car sales. Israeli strikes in Lebanon have rocked Beirut's southern suburbs in one of the most intense nights of attacks. Lebanon's state news agency said Israel launched 17 airstrikes over a few hours. Chip giant Nvidia is increasing its presence in India, which it sees as a major growth market. At an artificial intelligence summit in Mumbai today, Nvidia announced it was partnering with Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries to build AI infrastructure in the country.
